Amy Adams Talks Ben Affleck In ‘Batman V Superman’

Fans started picking apart Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman the very instance it was announced as the next part in the DC shared universe. Still, nothing compared to the outcry that followed when Ben Affleck was announced as the next Batman. Time has passed, and internet waters have calmed a bit since then. Several photos of “Bat-fleck” have been released, and the world finally seems to have come to terms with the fact that the two-time Oscar-winning former heartthrob will be playing the demented Bruce Wayne. The fans’ anger has now turned to curiosity, and all are wondering just how Affleck’s portrayal of the caped crusader will stand up to the others. Amy Adams, Lois Lane in 2013’s Man Of Steel as well as in the upcoming Batman V Superman, weighed in on Affleck’s Batman in an interview with the Press Association (via Tewkesbury AdMag, hat tip to Screen Rant).

“He is going to be his own unique thing. He’s got a wonderful quality and a great body of work. I was only in one scene with him, I think I’m allowed to say that. So I didn’t get to see much, but what I saw was fantastic.”

Given the few pictures we’ve seen of the new Batman, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Affleck is doing something completely unique. With the man’s physique and general demeanor in the photos, they are very much going for the hardened Frank Miller aesthetic. But how exactly it translates onto the screen remains one of the big questions among fans. It is comforting to know Affleck is willing to take Batman in a completely different direction. It’s only a couple years after The Dark Knight Rises, and it would be disappointing to see someone trying to go for the same feel as Christian Bale.

Regarding Adams, it is interesting to note that she is only in one scene with Ben Affleck in the film, and it’s not even clear if it’s Affleck as Bruce Wayne or Batman. It makes one wonder if her having one scene is indicative of Lois Lane having only a small role in the film, or if things just turned out as such in the story. Either way, Adams seems to have had a good time in filming of Batman V Superman.

“We’re not allowed to speak about it, but I just want to tell everybody everything. I’ve spoken about working briefly with Gal as Wonder Woman and Ben as Batman and had a wholly positive experience. And teaming up with Zack, Henry and Lawrence Fishburne again is so much fun. I like playing Lois, it’s a real privilege for me. I never really expected it.”
