Skydiver Hits Player More Seriously Than Reported, Mattingly Romanin Out With Concussion For Season [Video]

A skydiver hit player Mattingly Romanin in a botched ceremony before a Missouri baseball game on Saturday. As you may already know, the result was a viral YouTube video of the accident. If you’re not already one of the 1.5 million viewers who’ve watched the skydiver accidentally dropkicking the Hannibal Caveman shortstop, hit that button and check it out.

Ouch.

There’s a full report on the incident about the skydiver hitting the player which you can get by clicking right here.

The video became popular and the accident somewhat laughable because both men seemed to walk away just fine.

And indeed the unnamed skydiver wasn’t hurt.

But it’s a different story for Mattingly Romanin, a Canadian who was playing for the Missouri team. The player hit in the face by the skydiver began to develop headaches that continued to get worse.

According to The Epoch Times, Romanin turned out to be suffering from a concussion. He has now been taken out of play for the rest of the season.

The Bleacher Report also had an update on Romanin’s injuries. The player said:

“I still have headaches and stuff like that, and I just feel a little slow…It is unfortunate that it ended my season, and I’m a little upset about that, but you know what, it’s just a freak accident and there’s nothing we can do [about it] now. So I’m still trying to be upbeat it, and I’m still laughing with everybody.”

Let’s hope the next time Mattingly Romanin gets YouTube famous, it’s for making a great catch — not for being the baseball player hit by a skydiver.
