Japanese man wants to marry Anime character

StumbleUpon Digg Reddit Mixx del.icio.us MySpace Fark Facebook TwitThis Propeller Wikio Yahoo! Buzz

A Japanese man has posted an online petition, arguing that Japan should change its laws to allow people to marry comic book characters. Japan, currently, like most countries legally only allows humans to marry. What’s more bizarre about this story is that the online petition has attracted more than 1,000 other wierdos people.

“I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world.”

“However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?”

“For a long time I have only been able to fall in love with two-dimensional people and currently I have someone I really love,” one signatory to the petition wrote.

“Even if she is fictional, it is still loving someone. I would like to have legal approval for this system at any cost.”

Right. The growing popularity of Hentai, and Anime p$rn is creepy enough, do you need to marry them too?

    Shocking X_X.
I can't believe someone would totaly have no more meaning to life so he would marry a character off the screan. I wouldn't mind that (looser) that he could be allow to marry the characters, but i just don't get one thing. How is he being able to feel confort when their's really no one there to help him when he's in a time of needs.
  • Hmm, very Gibson-esque. A lead character wanting to marry an avatar is a large part of the Bridge Trilogy and the final book All Tomorrow's Parties.
  • DAMMIT!

That's what I was going to say.

Now if only I hadn't had class earlier, I could have beaten you to it...

    Good show though, mate.

Well considering how Anime characters are so much more perfect than 3d counter parts, I don't blame them. Real women want money and dicks, there is no love in them. Anime characters has no need for money or dicks, and simply live purely out of love for them alone. This guy represents pure love rather than one driven by sex and money. Props to this guy.

Anime girls are in most cases the voice of voice actress, the lines of an "artist", the colours of an inker, and a personality constructed by a few men (mostly guys, in some cases women too) because they're made by men to be what men wants, so you guys tend to fall in love with men psyche, i bet that's why you can't find love in other girls, because you need someone who understands you as a man, and that would be another man, so there you have it, if you want a perfect relationship go homo, it would be exactly like this "real love" for an "anime girl's personality" and "not shallow" you seem to search so much in anime.

"the growing popularity of Hentai, and Anime p$rn is creepy enough, do you need to marry them too?" What the fuck are you talking about? do you think japanese cartoons only have porn stories?! You really should get more informed about it before you talk about it! And it's not porn that's growing, it's the anime and manga popularity (PORN-FREE STUFF YOU FREAK!) and I'M COMPLETELY SURE THAT HE HASN'T FELL IN LOVE FOR A PORN CHARACTER since the best and cutest personalities (the ones that really makes you like the character) are the ones from ordinary stories.

I'm not saying that guys isn't crazy (he is) but what the fuck, it's the very same thing as people who fall in love for pop stars and actors! Would someone ever fall in love for a porn actress? Don't be that stupid and ignorant!!
  • Kryzzz
porn stars get married all the time. So apparently yes, there are people who 'fall in love for a porn actress'
  • Oliver
"Marry" and "fall in love" are two completely different things.

i think people are getting the terms confused.. love is not the same as being married. Marriage means you are legally bound to the other person..or in this guys case, a fictional character. Love is an abstract feeling that can be expressed through our words and actions to an extent. Obviously, if you can have both, that is the best, but in our current society, people are too materialistic. Generally, girls want money, guys want sex.

I definitely think it is weird for someone to marry a anime character. However, if that brings the man happiness, who's to judge? I mean, there are millions of people who are in unhappy marriages with "real" people, if this guy can find love with a fictional character, then good for him.

To overlook the specifics of this case, many people have a idea of a perfect person for them. It's the same idea, loving someone who does not, or might not exist. The way that this guy deals with this difficulty is falling in love with something that can be created, that is readily available. I personally discourage this kind of way of coping, it's called escapism, and that rarely gets you anywhere. However, again, if this guy can be happy, then good for him.
  • PearPear
Anime characters do not actually exist, and therefore cannot give consent.
  • cat
maybe their creaters can make them consent xD
  • Anonymous
I would love creators to deny their consent in a "No!! they're mine, i made them all for myself!!" way

I couldn't help laughing reading this article. You have no clue what you are talking about. Don't talk about things you no nothing about. Most of the characters that are admired and loved all over the world are NOT from hentai games.
I know that marrying anime characters is something that's just too much, well, the important part is that she doesn't exist. If girls from anime existed I would marry one. You know, anime girls are a lot cuter, not only in their look.
  • Lonely Girl
Well then I am a freak too. Because I love someone that isn't real. Because i am too weak to leave my room most days. So I spent my time watching him, and it is thanks to him, that I am still living.
  • YOUALLreadyknow
    first off.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Second, this is actually refreshing,
Id rather he wanna marry a comic over my 10 year old sister...you know? =P
  • MiniFreak
LOl, I think manga and anime is awesome, and if the impossible chance came along that I could live in a tv show or movie I would take it, but this is funny!
  • Logic Thinker
I don't believe that he/she is referring to him falling in love specifically with a hentai related character. They used that as an example to establish the creepiness of it all.

Animated sex, it's creepy for the reasons being that it's not real and people actually spend their time creating it.
Marriage to an animation. Also creepy in the sense that it's not real. Never hold, never speak with directly, never comfort, never be loved back or make love for that matter. Regardless of the show they come from.

Example : You guys fall in love with say.. Tohru from Fruits Basket. Okay you love her, you buy her gifts, and you tell her you lover her. To hear those words back you'll have to find a specific section of the film where they say "I love you." or "Thank you."
BUT! You're the one that made them say it, and if you don't pause on time you'll see that she didn't say it to you, but to the character she's actually with. Thus meaning she's not really yours since she's with another guy in her own animation.

Have fun falling in love with animations kids, but please grow out of it when you exceed the age of 20?

It's sad when people don't really know about love, People like you have to understand that you can't simply grow out of love like a pair of shoes, it stays with you forever, and if it doesn't it wasn't love.
  • What you will marry a anime???
  • Grey Grev
You should first understand that love comes in different forms. Simply saying something is weird and that those people who like them are weirdos is the farthest thing from understanding. The man's love, in my view, is of the artistic abilities of the artist. He just wants his love to go beyond fandom to be a more meaningful thing.
  • strangegirl
firstly, the fact that 1000s of people have sighned this petition shows that he isn't alone in his way of thinking, also anime porn like those porno novels out there its not that strange.
in most cases anime characters have deep and complex personalities that creaters spend days createing, trying to make that character as real as possible so it provokes the watcher/gamer deeper into the story. the creater must have done a good job considering what has happend.
lastly i wanna say shut the fuck up to those cockless jerks who say "Japan is f**ked". its not just japan that has this obsession there are tons of people around the world who would rather be in 2D rather than put up with the high expectations of our current 3D. indeed because thay know there is no judgement or rejection.

note: look up fangirl if you want to see that western society has also fallen in love with fiction
  • Eric Brown
YEAH I AGREE 100% you know i look at these hentai site and see not just anime with is cute anime girls with big eyes small mouths and nice bodies. i see weird fuckin hentais like simpsons or kim possible those are completely fucked 100% fucked and i think its not just japan that makes hentais america makes them thinking that oh they want to see Marge simpson naked (WTF) if people want to make hentais make them from japan cartoon not Fucking american cartoons! japanese anime is ART and so is japanese hentai not american cartoons there just funny OK dont make them into hentais!

The hentai thing i don't really mind but it gets me pissed when people make things like doujins or hentai movies without consent of the creator it really undermines the authority that the creator has over his own creations and gives anime a bad rep.

I was "in love" with an anime character....when I was 12 1/2. And I was over it and looking at real boys by 13. I'm now 19 and I have a wonderful ("3D") boyfriend who I wouldn't trade in for anything. Look people, if you're so obsessed with a 2D drawing that came out of someone's imagination, you have issues. All this nonsense about "who would want to put up with 3D people over 2D people," .. you need to turn your computer off and go outside, get a life, develop some social skills, and give us "3D" girls a chance, because not all of us are "only after money and dicks." Maybe that's why you fail so hard with girls. Way to give us a chance, mate.

Anime and manga, much like any literary/TV series, are fun to read/watch and some characters are notable, but... really? Seriously? Grow up, people.

I'm with Logic Thinker on this one -- and even then about the pausing the DVD thing. It's not her saying it, it's the person who scripted the dialogue *saying* she said it, and the person doing her voice using their own voice to say words with no meaning behind them.

Grow a hobby. Make some "3D" friends. You have no sympathy from me.
