Gas Pump Couple Join Leno On ‘Tonight’ For An Encore [Video]

Do you remember the gas pump couple who earned a free tank of gas on The Tonight Show and became viral sensations this week? Jay Leno invited them on to sing live with Rickey and The Tonight Show Band.

All we knew about Will Sims and his wife Monifa was that the former was an 80s kid who enjoyed Bon Jovi and free tanks of gas, while the latter pulls off a pretty good “Sweet Dreams” and loves to dance.

After being told he’d get a free tank of gas if he sang live, Will delivered an entertaining rendition of “Livin’ on a Prayer” while Monifa nearly died of laughter in the couple’s car. She eventually emerged to join her husband, and the two performed a duet of the Eurythmics song “Sweet Dreams.”

In short, it was awesome.

So awesome that Leno decided to invite them on The Tonight Show so that we could get to know each of them a little better.

Turns out, Will is a bartender while Monifa is a fitness trainer. They have been married for 12 years and they have a daughter together.

Leno also asserted that the Sims’ were not “plants,” and that they had done “Pumpcast News” with roughly four or five couples. They just weren’t as entertaining as the Sims, we guess.

They said much the same, with Monifa cracking that she would have dressed up if she were a paid performer. The two then took the stage with Rickey and The Tonight Show Band to perform a duet of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
