Corbin Bleu Signs On For ‘One Life To Live’

Corbin Bleu has signed on to co-star in the One Life to Live web series.

The High School Musical alum will join many of the original cast members for the web reboot of the beloved soap opera. The show was cancelled by ABC back in 2011 to make room for more lifestyle-oriented programming.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Corbin Bleu join the remarkable cast of ‘One Life to Live.’ Corbin is multi-talented and we look forward to seeing this dynamic character unfold,” explained Prospect Park’s Jeff Kwatinetz. The company will produce the web version of the series.

Corbin Bleu will portray Jeffrey King in the rebooted series. His character is friends with Matthew Buchanan (Robert Gorrie) and Danielle Manning (Kelley Missal). King has been officially described as a “brilliant young reporter.”

Production on the One Life to Live reboot is scheduled to begin on Monday (March 18). New episodes of the series are expected to arrive online on April 29. In addition to being available via Prospect Park’s The Online Network, episodes can be streamed through Hulu and purchased on iTunes.

Corbin Bleu was approached last year to portray Jesus in a production of Godspell. Composer Stephen Schwartz described the actor and musician as having “great talent, charisma, and radiant energy.”

In addition to his work on One Life to Live, Godspell, and High School Musical, Bleu has also appeared in the horror flick Scary or Die and Douglas Aarniokoski’s Nurse 3-D.

The actor also just finished production on the upcoming thriller The Monkey’s Paw. Bleu will join Stephen Lang (Avatar) and veteran character actor Charles S. Dutton in the film. A tentative release date has been set for later this year.

Earlier this month, Corbin Bleu was the subject of a Twitter death hoax. The hashtag #RIPCorbinBleu began trending on the micro-blogging site, forcing the actor to issue a statement on the matter.

“Hey everyone I’m not dead! Don’t believe the crazy stories. I’m at Magic Mountain having fun!” he tweeted.
