Should An Anorexic 4 Stone Woman Be A Role Model?

Valeria Levitan, who weighs just four stone and is thought to be the thinnest woman in the world, has revealed that she gets fan mail from girls looking to copy her malnourished look.

Speaking to The Sun, Levitan stated, “I have received emails from young girls who me to teach them how to be like me. All the letters I’ve had are from women, mainly in their twenties, who see me as some kind of inspiration.”

Levitan, who has suffered from an eating disorder ever since she was a teenager, then added, “This is why I want to campaign against anorexia. I am not going to teach them how to die. It is not a game, it is not a joke, it is your life.”

Valeria moved to the United States as a 16 year-old and, as a result of being hurt by remarks from her mother and fellow classmates, began to starve herself in order to become thinner. By the age of 23, she had dropped down from a size 12 to a tiny size six.

Currently, at 5ft 8in, she should weigh between 126 pounds and 168 pounds, but instead she is only at 59lbs. Because of this, Valeria has lost the ability to taste certain products and is even unable to eat many foods as her body can’t digest them.

“I want to share my story to help sufferers and their families from repeating my fate,” noted Valeria. “I want young people to live happy, healthy, and meaningful lives. Anorexia has made me lonely, unattractive and repulsive for people around me.”

What do you think of Valeria’s tale? Would you send her fan mail?
