‘Shameless’ Season 8 Cast Heads To Chicago This Month To Continue Filming

Fans who have been impatiently waiting for the latest Shameless news will be happy to know the cast is heading to Chicago towards the end of this month to continue filming Season 8. According to South Side Fans, a fan site decided to the hit Showtime series, the Shameless cast is scheduled to return to Chicago to film scenes for Season 8 from July 31 to August 4.

As the Shameless fan site reminds us, the cast spends roughly two weeks in Chicago to film during each season of the series. Typically, however, the bulk of the Shameless series is filmed in Los Angeles.

Showtime has, unfortunately, been pretty tight-lipped when it comes to releasing any details about Season 8. Fans have been desperately waiting to learn when the Season 8 release date will be. As of today, Season 8 does not have a confirmed release date. Many fans speculate – and hope – Season 8 will premiere on Showtime in October of this year. This hope and speculation are based on the fact that the series is prone to having October release dates.

Given the fact that they just began to film Season 8 of Shameless in June, it makes just as much sense for the release date to end up happening early next year. This is also a pretty good guess as the series does have a history of January premiere dates as well.

One of the few solid pieces of information fans have about Shameless Season 8 is the fact that Liam Gallagher has been recast to a different actor (or actors). At this time, it is unclear whether or not the role was recast to another set of twins.

It was the mother of the Sims twins who played the role of Liam Gallagher that actually took to Instagram to reveal this information. Many fans have assumed this means there will be a time skip. Though, some have commented on the fact that the new Liam Gallagher doesn’t look to be that much older than the Sims twins.

The time skip theory makes sense as it would allow Debbie’s child to be a little older, and it would give Carl a chance to finish school and return home to be with the family. While some are bummed about the idea of Liam being recast with a different actor, most fans agree this is the only member of the Gallagher family this kind of change would have worked for. Recasting any other members of the Gallagher family wouldn’t have gone over too well with the fans.

While there really hasn’t been too much information revealed on who is taking on the role of Liam Gallagher, fans did get a sneak peek of the new Liam thanks to a picture Steve Howey (who plays Kevin) shared on Twitter a few weeks ago.

As far as the Shameless Season 8 cast is concerned, fans also know Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr will be playing the role of Nessa. Nessa is being described as a tough and smart lesbian who moves into the building Fiona purchases. The introduction of Nessa has caused some fans to speculate whether or not a relationship between Jessica’s character and Emmy Rossum’s character (Fiona) could blossom.

The only other piece of information fans know about the Shameless Season 8 cast is the fact that no returning characters have been confirmed. While fans are pretty adamant about wanting characters like Mickey, Mandy, Sheila, and Jimmy/Steve to return to the show, Showtime – nor the actors themselves – have confirmed any of these characters would be returning.
