Polls Update, Mitt Romney Reacts To President-Elect Donald Trump

As polls update today and final numbers are being tallied, Mitt Romney has spoken out about the president-elect, Donald Trump. Despite taking a very strong stance against the Republican nominee, Mitt Romney took to social media to congratulate the winner of the 2016 presidential election. The never-Trumper shared some words about Trump, words that were brief and to the point.

While polls continue to update today and numbers are finalized, it has become clearer that Hillary Clinton didn’t have much of a chance in this election. While the media had her ahead in polls all along, it was likely the silent majority that came through for Donald Trump, effectively making him the elected 45th president of the United States.

According to Politico, Mitt Romney’s tweets showed a different side than what the public has seen from him since Donald Trump announced his candidacy. Previously, Romney has used “apocalyptic language” and has strongly urged people to stay far, far away from Donald Trump.

“Romney’s tone was a significant departure from his rhetoric during the campaign, when he was an outspoken critic of the media mogul, calling him a ‘phony, a fraud.'”

Although Mitt Romney ultimately decided not to run for president, he was fairly outspoken about his disdain for Trump. Rather than choosing to support the Republican nominee, Romney stayed on his own track and tried to hold the GOP together in his own way. Back in March, Romney encouraged Americans to support Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich. He strongly felt that rallying support behind these three candidates could have stopped Donald Trump.

What Romney didn’t quite understand was that millions of people are fed up with the way America is, and they were going to go with the one guy who pulled momentum like no other presidential candidate has ever done before.

Since the last polls update — the one that confirmed that Donald Trump had won the election — many feel that Mitt Romney failed.

As polls updated on November 8, people all over the world were experiencing very different reactions. Interesting exit polls have indicated that both Clinton and Trump supporters weren’t thrilled with the choices that they were given this election.

Back in May, the Huffington Post published an article titled, “Why are our Presidential Choices the Most Hated Candidates in History?” With both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton receiving some of the most unfavorable ratings in polls ever, the statement below still holds true for millions and millions of Americans.

“This election needs to serve as a wakeup call to both the Democratic and Republican parties. The primaries are clearly unrepresentative of the majority of Americans, and our two-party system has led to an unpopularity contest of historical proportions. It does not bode well for the future of U.S. democracy if we are ultimately forced to cast a vote for the candidate we hate least.”

Do you think that Mitt Romney should have run for president? Do you think that he would have won? Are you surprised that Donald Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States? Sound off in the comments below.
