Lady Gaga To Rule 2017 With New Album And Super Bowl LI Halftime Show

Lady Gaga has been teasing fans about her forthcoming album, Joanne. Earlier this month, she dropped the lead single “Perfect Illusion,” and earlier this week, she premiered the music video.

On Friday, Sept. 23, Lady Gaga took to Twitter to release the tracklist for Joanne, which includes a special collaboration with Florence + The Machine’s Florence Welch, reports Entertainment Tonight.

“LADY GAGA / #JOANNE / OCT 21 DELUXE & STANDARD TRACKLISTS + CD LABEL,” the 30-year-old singer wrote alongside a photo of the official tracklist.

Joanne’s standard tracklist will include 11 songs, including Gaga’s single “Perfect Illusion” and her duet with Welch, while the deluxe edition will include 14 tracks. Gaga has previously teased that the tracks “John Wayne,” “A-Yo,” and the album’s title track are “the true heart and soul of the record.”

The album drops on Oct. 21. The album is named after the singer’s aunt who died from Lupus at the young age of 19. Joanne is also the singer’s middle name, as reported by Rolling Stone.

“As I returned to my home life and spending time with my friends and family and getting out of the mainstream limelight for a minute, the experiences of our family and our challenges that make us who we are. It’s everything about Joanne… it’s all the toughness of the pain of losing her that made us all strong and made us who we are. She is the woman of my past who is becoming and helping me bring more of my honest woman self into the future.”

Joanne is said to be Gaga’s most personal album yet. Check out the full tracklist for the album below.

In addition, Gaga has been possibly confirmed to perform at the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show in February, 2017. After months of speculation, it turns out that the pop star will perform at the annual gig, after all. Gaga has been previously rumored to perform, but an NFL spokesperson denied that a “final decision” on having the headlining act had been made.

Now, Terry Lefton of SportsBusiness Daily via Pro Football Talk reported that Lady Gaga and NFL have agreed to a performance, with the official announcement scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 25 on Fox NFL’s coverage, reports the Washington Post. However, it’s unclear whether Gaga will have the stage to herself or if she will be joined by other artists.

Lady Gaga would be the perfect fit for the Super Bowl since her well-received rendition of the national anthem before this past year’s Super Bowl. Gaga revealed before this year’s game that performing the national anthem was “one of the highest honors of [her] career.”

“I get a chance to sing for all the athletes — who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment — the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment. And I think it marks what being an American is all about, working hard,” she added.

Performing the national anthem was just one of many Gaga’s career highs as she made a slow return to music. She also received praise for her David Bowie tribute at the 2016 Grammys and her Sound of Music tribute at the 2015 Oscars, as well as her performance on AHS: Hotel. Gaga is set to take over 2017 with her new album and Super Bowl gig, if the reports are true.
