Prince William, Prince Harry Have Cameos In ‘Star Wars 8’

You probably that Star Wars 8 couldn’t get any bigger. Not only is it the eighth installment to the behemoth franchise (not counting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), but it’s also the sequel to last December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is now the third highest-grossing film of all time having taken in over $2 billion.

But it’s now been alleged that Star Wars 8 will try and eclipse its predecessor by possessing genuine royal cameos. The Daily Mail reported that Princes William and Harry have secretly filmed cameo roles as Stormtroopers for the blockbuster.

The duo actually paid a visit to the set of the Star Wars film, which is being filmed in Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, just outside of London, last week. The publication insisted that while they were there, they shot their cameos. The outlet also claimed that the pair starred opposite Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Benicio Del Toro in the scene.

Star Wars 8’s writer and director, Rian Johnson, will now have to make a decision over whether this scene actually makes it into the final edit of the film.

However, the fact that the scene allegedly includes Daisy Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega’s Finn and Benicio Del Toro’s Lord Vikram, who is believed to be Star Wars 8’s villain, suggests that it’s quite an integral moment in the blockbuster.

Unfortunately for moviegoers they won’t actually be able to see Princes William and Harry in Star Wars 8 as their faces have been obscured and hidden behind their Stormtrooper helmets and outfits.

During their tour of Pinewood Studios the duo not only met Daisy Ridley, who shot to prominence thanks to her performance as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but they also talked to various other members of the cast and crew from the blockbuster, while both Prince William and Prince Harry even enjoyed a hug with Chewbacca and decided to have a fake lightsaber fight, too.

But after they enjoyed their tour, the princes then got down to work. To keep the Duke of Cambridge and his younger brother’s efforts shrouded in secrecy and mystery, everyone except for the Star Wars 8’s director, producer, and the essential members of the crew were allowed to be on set for the filming.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, a source explained, “The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set. What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to ‘get suited] and off they went to the wardrobe department.”

The insider continued and even provided further details regarding the pair’s performances in the blockbuster, insisting that it’s actually a rather pivotal scene in Star Wars 8.

They continued, “The Princes dressed up in full Stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro’s character when a group of Stormtroopers enter – two of whom are William and Harry.”

But Prince William wasn’t quite done for the day, because after the pair shot their blockbuster debuts, the second in line to the monarchy also presented a birthday cake to a member of the crew, who, as you’d expect, was rather stunned.

The source said of this moment, “The guy said it was surreal, being presented with a birthday cake by the future King Of England who was dressed as a Stormtrooper. The Princes had a great time and could not have been more relaxed and friendly to everyone on set. It’s obvious they are genuine Star Wars fans.”

But rather than admitting they’d shot cameos, the princes’ spokesperson would “neither confirm nor deny” their parts in Star Wars 8.
