Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Release Happening ‘A Month Or Two’ Before Apple iPhone 7, To Feature An Iris Scanner?

The arrival of Galaxy S7 last month created even more hype for Samsung Galaxy Note 6’s release with rumors and speculations suggesting that the 2016 phablet may be available before Apple unveils its 2016 flagship, the iPhone 7. Recent reports mentioned the possibility that the release date for Samsung Galaxy Note 6 may be set for July of this year.

According to Bloomberg’s report, the South Korean tech giant is now employing a new strategy when it comes to product launches, which is to release sooner and offer cheaper pricing. A statement from Claire Kim, a Daishin Securities Co. analyst, was noted in the report which read, “With the high-end smartphone market largely stagnated, the issue is no longer about what ‘Wow’ features the new phone has. Rather, it’s about who can bring out the phone quicker.”

And with the reported “extremely encouraging” sales of the Samsung Galaxy S7, there’s a big possibility that this new strategy will also be applied for the market release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 as well. The Bloomberg post cited Strategy Analytics executive director Neil Mawston’s insights. “We expect Samsung to release the Note 6 a month or two before the Apple iPhone 7, to try and grab that window of opportunity,” he noted.

This alleged release timeframe for Samsung Galaxy Note 6 supports recent reports that it could arrive in July while the Apple iPhone 7 is anticipated to hit the shelves at some point in September. Expert Reviews explained that if the Cupertino-based iPhone maker follows its usual release schedule, then the iOS smartphone will most likely be available during the latter part of September.

Apple fans can expect a bigger battery from the upcoming Apple phone if recent reports are to be believed. Mac Rumors noted that based on the recently leaked images that showed up online, the iPhone 7 may have a larger battery. Accordingly, the battery depicted in the photos shows that the forthcoming Apple handset could be packed with a capacity of 7.04 watt-hours.

Furthermore, Forbes reported that Apple might unleash three variants for its 2016 flagship device, which are the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, a 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, and an “even more premium model” that could be dubbed as the iPhone 7 Pro. The “Pro” variant, according to the report, will feature a dual-lens camera system developed by LinX, which is an imaging specialist that was acquired by Apple last year.

Going back to news about Samsung Galaxy Note 6, feasible specs of the phablet are also emerging online in addition to updates about its release schedule. The latest ones suggest that the Note 6 could be dust and water resistant as it could come with an IP68 certification, UberGizmo shared. If this pushes through, users will be able to submerge the Galaxy Note 6 in water as deep as 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes without damaging it. Other Note 6 specs that fans can look forward to upon the handset device’s release are a 5.8-inch touchscreen display and 12MP rear camera for its primary shooter. Moreover, Samsung’s phone and tablet hybrid for 2016 might also have a whopping 6 GB of RAM. At launch, Galaxy Note 6 may also come pre-installed with Android N firmware.

Another possible feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is the iris scanner. PocketNow’s report read the following.

“And then you have iris recognition for enhanced security and futuristic authentication, practically confirmed by the Indian importing of 200 Samsung iris cams for R&D and testing purposes. These components aren’t specifically listed as meant for Note 6 assembly, but the timing clearly fits.”
