‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Lucy Hale Admits To Eating Disorder, Went Days Without Food


Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale admitted to having an eating disorder during an interview for the September issue of Cosmopolitan. Lucy Hale also noted she has struggled with the eating disorder while performing on the ABC hit show Pretty Little Liars and has gone days without eating.

Lucy Hale, 23, says that when she was eating, she would often choose some fruit and then go to the gym for three hours, presumably to work off the calories.

“I knew I had a problem. It was a gradual process but I changed myself,” Lucy Hale noted in the Cosmopolitan interview.

Lucy Hale is no longer shy when talking about the eating disorder she struggled with on a daily basis while pursuing her acting career. The young actress appears proud to share details about the transformation which has taken place in her life after she got help. Meeting Chris Zylka, her new boyfriend is also a high-point in the Pretty Little Liars star’s year.

“I was like, ‘Holy crap you’re gorgeous! It was like no one else was there. We couldn’t stop talking,’ ” Lucy Hale shared when talking with People magazine about meeting Chris Zylka, who is also an aspiring actor.

Before becoming one of the stars on Pretty Little Liars in 2010, Lucy Hale had small parts in How I Met Your Mother, Privileged, and The O.C. Lucy Hale is not the only young female star who has spoken publicly about anorexia or related eating disorders after seeking treatment. Famous faces who also struggled with weight and achieving a positive body image in the Hollywood environment include Christina Ricci, Kelly Clarkson, Portia De Rossi, Ashlee Simpson, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Jessica Alba — just to name a few from the Radar Online list.
