Cigarettes in New Hampshire now cost $23 quadrillion a pack

A New Hampshire man has discovered that smoking isn’t only bad for your health, but also bad for your hip pocket when he was charged $23,148,855,308,184,500 for a packet.
If the thought of a $23 quadrillion packet of cigarettes isn’t bad enough, image Josh Muszynski’s surprise when he eventually discovered the charge: Bank of America not only deducted the amount from his account, they also charged him a $15 overdraft fee for the privilege.
“I thought somebody had bought Europe with my credit card,” Muszynski told local television, although his troubles weren’t over yet. When him first approached Bank of America, they wouldn’t correct the error, and it took several attempts to get it sorted. The Bank also eventually reimbursed Muszynski the $15 over draft fee.
To put the amount in perspective, $23 quadrillion is multiple times larger that US national debt, a figure astronomically large in itself.

“When him first approached Bank of America, they wouldn’t correct the error” I guess this is the type of service to expect at these banks

Very enlightening.

You'd think that the Bank of America person who received the complaint would have exhibited common sense, but large organizations (not just B of A) do not run on common sense, they run on process. Presumably the person who received the call is working under instructions to not make any change until concrete evidence is presented that the charge is incorrect. The mere fact that it is impossible for any human to run up such a charge apparently didn't negate the process requirement to ask, “How do we know that you didn't run up this charge, sir?”
Oh, and by the way, I hope that politicians don't see this story. It might give them ideas on some new tax increases.

There is another link under the category of personal finance but it has nothing to do with finance. If you have difficulties in making payment, you can click the link named wachoviabank.com. You will have an expert helping you to fix your problems and you don’t have to go out of your home to get the service. What you need to do is to choose a button between the two “call us today” and “we’ll call you”. Don’t you think this service shows the attentiveness and consideration of the Wachovia? It’s really good in my opinion.
