What Is Jana Duggar Doing? Eldest Duggar Daughter Takes Center Stage On Next ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’ Episode
With Duggar daughters Jill and Jessa getting married and starting families, many Duggar fans have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of a courtship for eldest Duggar daughter Jana. However, with no courtship in sight, many Duggar fans are wanting to know exactly what Jana Duggar has been doing the past few months. It seems that TLC is using the infatuation with Jana Duggar and her future to their advantage and is featuring the unmarried Duggar daughter in the next episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On.
As you can see in the TLC promo above, Jana Duggar will be featured heavily in the next episode of Counting On. Jana has been the topic of conversation in both the Duggar fan circle as well as anti-Duggar groups hoping the oldest Duggar daughter will break free from the family. Fans are always on the lookout for potential suitors for Jana (even starting rumors that Jana was about to enter a courtship with Tim Tebow). However, those skeptical of the Duggar family have pointed to Jana as a potential candidate to “break free” from the family for greener pastures.
Prior to the new Counting On series, Jana was, according to the Christian Post, one of the “lesser known” Duggar daughters as she was more private than her siblings. With Jana’s private nature, many speculated that she may be preparing to turn away from Duggar family traditions and go out on her own.
“But it seems that Jana is much more interested in being single and not tied down just yet; some have theorized that Jana is rebelling against the family traditions.”

Though speculation surrounding Jana’s future, potential paths away from the Duggar family has swirled, it seems Jana has no intention of leaving the family and is instead noted by Jessa Seewald in the Counting On promo as the one who “gets things done” in the family. From the promo, it appears Jana is sticking to the same role she had in 19 Kids and Counting as the second mother to the Duggar kids. Not only does Jana help take care of baby Spurgeon for Jessa, she is also Jessa’s go-to for DIY projects.
In the promo video for Counting On, Jana is charged with helping Jessa on a home improvement project. Both Jessa and Joy Anna say that Jana is the leader of the family and the person that they call if they want to get something done in the Duggar household.
“When it comes to getting something done, you gotta get Jana involved.”
In addition to being the leader on home projects, Jana is also the family seamstress and head child care provider. Jana is almost always surrounded by her younger siblings and has been called “Cinderella Duggar” due to the fact she is almost always working for her family in some fashion. The notion that Jana is stuck as the informal mother of the house comes as family insiders claim that Jim Bob and Michelle have shifted much of their parental responsibility onto Jana.
“Jim Bob and Michelle have totally transitioned a lot of their parental responsibilities onto her. Ever since she was young, she’s had to watch over the house while Jim Bob and Michelle would go out for date night alone.”
