‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Mid-Season Premiere: The First Four Minutes Ends With A Cliffhanger [Video]

Season 6 of The Walking Dead returns on Valentine’s Day this year. In order to whet the appetite some more, AMC has just released the first four minutes of Episode 9 (entitled “No Way Out”).

Before we get to the juicy first four minutes of the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead, here’s the synopsis for Episode 9:

“While trying to escape Alexandria, Rick and his group meet trouble when sudden noise draws walkers towards them with what could be fatal consequences.”

This synopsis certainly offers plenty to think about in regard to what could happen in the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead; however, the following footage shows plenty more food for thought when AMC introduces the new big bad: Negan. It is expected Negan (who is to be played by Supernatural alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will not appear in person until the season 6 finale of The Walking Dead but his crew will turn up in Episode 9 in an effort to set up the anticipation of the newest resident evil.

After Episode 8 (entitled “Start to Finish”) of season 6 of The Walking Dead aired, fans were delivered the treat of a teaser scene from the remainder of season 6. It is this scene that is now known to be part of the first four minutes of Episode 9. While the original teaser video (entitled “Prologue to the Next Chapter of The Walking Dead“) appears to be a little out of chronological order, the basic gist still remains the same.

We still see Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) driving along before they are stopped by Negan’s group. However, the tagline from the original teaser, which came at the end of the video, “Your property now belongs to Negan,” has been moved to the start of the next clip, setting the scene immediately for comic book fans.

So far, I have been unable to track down the identity of the actor or even the name of the character in the teaser video; however, it is likely he will be a high-ranking member of Negan’s group, The Saviors. But, as far as this character goes, his manners when taking weapons from Daryl’s group is kind of unnerving.

Something else to note in this newest teaser video is the fact that it is very likely either Daryl, Sasha, or Abraham will get killed before the end of Episode 9. My bets are on Sasha after she tries to get the unnamed member of Negan’s group to lower his gun which is leveled squarely at Abraham. This occurs after the character announces that normally their group kills one person immediately after encountering new groups of survivors, just to show them who is in charge. I think Abraham can see that Negan’s group is deadly serious about killing someone and tells Sasha to be quiet. This doesn’t work though and the scene ends with two guns leveled at Abraham and Sasha. Fans are then left with the distinct feeling the trigger is going to be pulled on at least one of the weapons.
