Justin Bieber Premieres High Quality ‘Hotline Bling’ Remix On OVO Sound Radio

Justin Bieber’s grainy but great remix of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” via an actual phone number ignited the Internet on Friday. But the people were desperate for a better quality version.

Cue OVO Sound Radio premiering the CDQ version of Bieber’s runs-for-days take on one of the biggest records of the year on Apple Music’s Beats 1 on Saturday. A sample of Drake saying “Halloween” from “Jumpman” was played live on the show, adding festive color.

The better quality version was posted to SoundClouds by random users, but were promptly removed. However, an upload was saved at other sites, including the one below.

Reaction to the Purpose singer’s high quality “Hotline Bling” was appreciative, to say the least. Check out a selection from Twitter.

Will Bieber’s take on the much-covered viral hit power Drake’s original (currently at No. 2) to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and unseat Adele’s “Hello”? Can anything at this point?

The Biebs’ remix lyrics change — on the heartthrob’s version, a woman cheats on him — is explained by co-writer Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd as the fictional story of Justin and Drake discovering they are dating the same girl, but the duo’s friendship remains intact.

On Friday, Justin teased the remix on his Twitter and Instagram accounts with reimagined artwork of the “Hotline Bling” imagery, before finally revealing a Michigan phone number — 231-377-1113 — for fans to call and hear the song.

An Interneter posted the recording onto SoundCloud. Bieber later posted a second phone number when people couldn’t get through on the first.

Meanwhile, Bieber is now just 12 days away from dropping his highly-anticipated Purpose album.

Previously, it was thought Drake would be on the record when the singer confirmed the rapper was on the album back in August. But, it seems the pair decided to exchange tracks instead. Returning the Biebs’ “Hotline Bling” remix in kind, it’s rumored Drake has done his version of Bieber’s “Sorry” hit.

Earlier this week, Bieber rolled out his album track list on Instagram and Twitter. Song titles were seen on cool graffiti wall murals all around the world. In addition, a duet with indie-electropop darling Halsey, titled “The Feeling,” was revealed as a cut on the record. And, it looks like something special is on the way either today or tonight.

Look for Purpose when it touches down on November 13 and pre-order it on iTunes here.

Bieber’s videographer, Rory Kramer, added the intriguing teaser below.
