New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer To Debut Next Week During A ‘Star Wars’ Themed Monday Night Football

Over the last few days there have been countless rumors that have insisted that the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on Monday October 19. And while that’s basically been confirmed, we’ve still been waiting of further details of exactly how and where the trailer will air.

But it’s now been reported that Lucasfilm and Disney have made the decision to air the next, and final, trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens during Monday Night Football on ESPN this coming Monday.

In fact, to coincide with the airing of this hugely anticipated clip, ESPN have decided to provide Monday’s broadcast with a Star Wars: The Force Awakens theme.

This will see all of the graphics on Monday Night Football, and even the scoreboard, given a Star Wars: The Force Awakens makeover, while the opening credits and montage dedicated to the Eagles and Giants’ rivalry will even pay homage to the beloved George Lucas franchise.

In fact, just to make sure that everyone associated with the game feels included, the trailer is also going to be screened inside the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, so that fans of both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants don’t feel left out.

This rumor first appeared on Reddit, with user DatESPNGUY writing, “This Monday Disney is releasing the full trailer for The Force Awakens after the first quarter of your game.”

It continues, “The whole night from graphics and scoreboard are Star Wars themed. The intro to the game gets an opening crawl detailing your hated rivalry. Seriously it’s the coolest thing Monday Night Football has ever done. Oh and one more thing. The trailer will play on the screen at Lincoln Financial so that those in attendance don’t miss out!”

At the moment, this is still purely a rumor, especially since it has come off of Reddit. However it does kind of make sense, since Disney, who is the parent company to Lucasfilm, owns ESPN too, and this means that they can get some wonderful, and profitable, synergy going on.

Meanwhile it also ties in with the cavalcade of rumors that have been swirling around for the last week, all of which have insisted that the latest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be released on Monday.

Rather than simply releasing it into the ether via the world wide web where people can watch it on their laptops, now people will be flicking over to ESPN so that they can watch football just for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

However, the trailer will almost certainly appear online within minutes of it being aired on Monday Night Football.

Before it’s actually aired though we can expect Lucasfilm and Disney to kick into gear with a little promotional campaign to amp up excitement for the footage.

This will probably include a brand new poster, while even a new logo has been teased, while we can also expect a teaser for the trailer itself to be released in and around 24 hours before Monday Night Football.

The good people over at Making Star Wars have also confirmed, along with myriad other film websites and blogs, that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will air on Monday, October 19, while they’ve also insisted that it is going to be absolutely sensational too.

They wrote, “This trailer is really going to be something special. I don’t want to spoil it. But I think we’re going to be very happy fans this Monday. I really think J.J. Abrams has made something special here and I’m going to sit this one out and hope that it doesn’t leak.”
