Miley Cyrus VMAs 2015 To End With Massive ‘Rupaul’s Drag Race’ Queens Performance — And One Of Them Might Be The Hostess’ Date

Miley Cyrus is drumming up massive amounts of attention in the lead-up to her hosting gig at this Sunday’s 2015 VMAs. That is, of course, to be expected after Miley’s performance with Robin Thicke two years ago became one of the most talked about moments of the MTV awards show’s 30-year history.

This year, Cyrus will be flanked by dozens of A-list celebrities and offbeat surprise guests, but her finalé might stand to be the most memorable. Miley is rumored to close the show surrounded by 30 drag queen from the popular Logo reality competition show RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Details have emerged about the VMAs performance with Miley for several weeks now among Drag Race’s devoted fan base, concentrated most strongly at the show’s subreddit. As it’s also rumored that the show’s All Stars 2 season is currently being filmed, many wondered how some of the show’s hottest competitors could miss out on a such a huge press event like the VMAs. After several of the rumored queens returned to social media suddenly, it seemed certain that Cyrus would be pulling from RuPaul’s stock of girls.

Through chats on Periscope and various probing on the queens’ social media accounts, Miley pulling out the cast of gender-bending entertainers is practically set in stone. Drag Race’s presence at the 2015 VMAs has also been confirmed by Hollywood Life, where an anonymous source revealed a little of what viewers should be expecting to see during Miley’s final number on Sunday.

“During her performance she will have 30 drag queens. Balloons and streamers will also drop… Miley is dead set on providing a MTV VMAs that people won’t stop talking about. She’ll be outrageous, funny and really push the envelope as long as it shocks people.”

Other rumors have also been circulating about Drag Race Season 7 winner Violet Chachki coming along as Cyrus’ date, though it’s still uncertain if any queen will walk the red carpet.

If Miley’s former live television appearances are any evidence, taking the stage with a possé of Drag Race queens is likely to be a relatively uncontroversial blip in the overall scheme of things. Cyrus’s VMAs 2015 campaign has already sparked up press around her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she had a frank discussion with the host about female nudity.
