Nintendo 64 Controller Works On Xbox One, Perfect For ‘Rare Replay’ Release

Xbox One and other console gamers never tire of the classics, and classic games will always have a special place in long-time gamers’ hearts. An upcoming Xbox One exclusive game, Rare Replay, is one of the best example of nostalgic gaming at its finest.

Announced by Microsoft Xbox One at E3 2015, Rare Replay is a collection of 30 games that will feature beloved Rare classics. What better way to go classic than to play the Rare Replay collection at the Xbox One console with a modded Nintendo 64 controller?

Tech Times reported that game accessory developer Hyperkin is actually making progress in building a cable capable of connecting a classic Nintendo 64 controller to an Xbox One console. Jesse Aragon and Chris Gallizzi from Hyperkin posted a short video to YouTube showcasing their progress with the Nintendo 64 controller working with Xbox One, and while it’s still a bit buggy, it’s actually quite a breakthrough for Xbox One.

In the two-minute video above, Gallizzi and Aragon shows that they were actually able to make the Nintendo 64 controller work as a normal controller for the Xbox One, albeit still a bit inconsistent. The prototype as shown in the video is still susceptible to random firings since the wirings are still in the works. However, if Hyperkin becomes successful in creating a cable to fit the Nintendo 64 controller to the Xbox One console, it’s absolutely possible that this could push the company to mass produce the Nintendo 64 crossover controller version for Xbox One. If lucky, Hyperkin aims to complete their Nintendo 64-cross-Xbox One experiment in time for the release of the Rare Replay collection.

VG247 reported last month that the Rare Replay game will come with 10,000 potential gamer points for Xbox One players. With Xbox gamers steadily getting addicted to amassing gamer points, purchasing the Rare Replay game could potentially amp up their gamer points, making Rare Replay very attractive to Xbox One players. With the Nintendo 64 crossover controller on the horizon, this will only boost the market’s interest in purchasing the Rare Replay collection, exclusive for Xbox One.

The classic Rare games that will be featured in the Xbox One Rare Replay game are: Battletoads, Battletoads Arcade, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Blast Corps, Atic Atac, Jetpac, Jetpac: Refueled, Cobra Triangle, Knight Lore, Gunfight, Sabre Wulf, Perfect Dark: Zero, Jet Force Gemini, Killer Instinct Gold, Viva Pinata, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, R.C. Pro-Am II, Underwurlde, Solar Jetman: Hunt for the Golden Warship, Lunar Jetman, Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll, Slalom, Digger T. Rock and Kameo: Elements of Power.

Rare Replay will be released for Xbox One on August 4. Hopefully, the Nintendo 64 crossover controller gets perfected in time for the Rare launch for Xbox One — then that would be another possible sweet bundle.
