‘Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition’ Will Fit These Phones, iPhone 6+ And Others Too Big

Now that pre-orders for the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition are all wrapped up, Bethesda has announced which smartphones will fit the included wearable Pip-Boy. Owners of large phones such as the iPhone 6+ or Samsung Galaxy Note may be looking for a backup device to use with the collectible for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Pip-Boy replica that comes with the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition comes with phone inserts of varying sizes to hold smartphones. The idea is that users will be able to place their phone in the Pip-Boy to launch and operate a second screen app that interacts with Fallout 4 while it is being played.

The largest phone that the Pip-Boy replica will hold is the Samsung Galaxy S5 with the iPhone 6 right behind it. The replica comes with a customizable phone insert so that owners can squeeze phones around the following dimensions in.

  • iPhone 6 – 5.44 in x 2.64 in
  • iPhone 5s – 4.87 in x 2.31 in
  • iPhone 4s – 4.54 in x 2.31 in
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 – 5.59 in x 2.25 in
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 – 5.38 in x 2.75 in

If you’re concerned your phone won’t fit, go search for your phone dimensions on sites like GSM Arena. They will give you the official dimensions of your device. Naturally, a phone case may need to be removed before putting the phone in the Pip-Boy.

I’ll be honest and say that I was doubtful my LG G3 would fit in the Pip-Boy when Bethesda first announced it. I pre-ordered the PC version of the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition in anticipation that it would be a hot seller. I was right, as pre-orders have sold out in North America and Bethesda has no plans to ask for more to be manufactured. I was also right that my smartphone is too big and will not fit. Neither will other popular models like the iPhone 6+ or any of the Samsung Galaxy Note devices.

The good news is that the Fallout 4 second screen app will still be available to use even without the Pip-Boy. Admittedly, it won’t be as nerd cool without wearing a device on your wrist while playing the game on the PS4, Xbox One, or PC. We will survive somehow though. We will survive.

As previously reported, Fallout 4 is due out on November 10. It is set in and around Boston, Massachusetts 200 years after the nuclear apocalypse. It adds to the open world exploration and combat with an all new crafting system that goes from simple weapon mods all the way to being able to build an entire community. It’s why it could (potentially) be the most voracious time eater to be released this holiday.
