‘American Horror Story’s’ Sarah Paulson Teases Evil New Character
American Horror Story alum Sarah Paulson is a staple on the FX series, and the upcoming season won’t be any different. Creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that the actress will join in on the next season of American Horror Story: Hotel, despite her busy schedule.
While Paulson is usually mum about her roles in the series prior to the season debut, the actress is teasing that she may get to play a villainous role. Murphy previously announced that she would play “the baddest bad girl of them all,” for the upcoming season, which is a far cry from her last characters, Bette and Dot.
Paulson, who hasn’t taken on an evil role on American Horror Storytold The Wrap about the upcoming role.
“I’ve never played any villain on the show. So perhaps there’s going to be an element on bad, bad girl.”
Want to hear more about Sarah Paulson’s latest role? Well, she’s not giving us much, but she did tease that she isn’t playing one pop culture figure.
“Here’s the only thing I can give you … I am not playing Janis Joplin. I would love that, that would be amazing, but no, I am not doing that.”
Apparently there was a rumor that Sarah would be playing Janis Joplin, thanks to a character breakdown via Bloody Disgusting. At the time the site revealed, “Paulson has also played prominent roles in all the AHS seasons. In ‘Hotel’ she will portray a rock-star who checks into the hotel, unaware of the terrifying events that await her.”
So perhaps Paulson is taking on another rock star? It’s not certain, but we might find out more when the show starts filming in Los Angeles in July. That said, no matter who she’s playing, Paulson is very excited to rub shoulders with this season’s star, Lady Gaga.
“I will not have succeeded in this season if I do not have a way of contacting her directly, like a cell phone number, by the end of the season. It will be very embarrassing to me if we don’t become really tight, close friends. The fact that I’m announcing that I want that is what should be terrifying to Lady Gaga.”
In addition to Lady Gaga and Sarah Paulson, the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Hotel welcomes series veterans Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, as well as Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, and Wes Bentley.
