Kid Rock Kills Mountain Lion: Ted Nugent Overjoyed But Animal Lovers — And Others — Not Pleased

Kid Rock killed a mountain lion, Ted Nugent posted a picture of the event on Facebook, and people have been commenting ever since.

It was in early January that Ted Nugent posted some different hunting pictures from a recent hunting exhibition on his Facebook page, reports Rare. Among these photos documenting the hunt was one of Kid Rock, dressed in camouflage hunting gear and sporting a yellow hat above his trademark Kid Rock goatee.

Oh, and he’s also holding up what looks to be a pretty good sized, dead, mountain lion, remnants of blood seeming to remain on the creature’s nose and mouth.

Another unidentified guy stands next to Kid Rock, the two projecting apparent satisfaction at the result of Kid Rock’s hunt.

Kid Rock, Nugent, lion hunt
Kid Rock poses with the mountain lion he shot, the picture posted by Ted Nugent on his Facebook Page, inspiring various comments.

Along with the picture that features Kid Rock, the mystery dude, and the unfortunate mountain lion, Ted Nugent also included a message of congratulations to Kid Rock for his kill, noting that Kid Rock’s taking out the predatory cougar will allow some of its potential prey, such as deer, to live.

In his message to Kid Rock, Nugent also anticipates the negative backlash that will be forthcoming from those that disagree with Kid Rock’s shooting the mountain lion.

“And what a grand conservation New Year it is! HAIL my MotorCity boy KidRock for saving all those muledeer elk & livestock by whacking this magnificent mountain lion. I can hear the braindead squawkers already with their obscene denial that killing lions is wrong. Its legal its necessary its good its beneficial its a damn riot! And these lovely pigwhackers did same on the TX swine while young Rachael Byrd arrowed this fine Oryx with the Bruce Cull tribe! Praise the mighty life giving renewable protein/sport/trophy/FUN! 2015 be good good year so far! [sic]”

As of this writing, Ted Nugent’s post of Kid Rock as hunter has 32,218 Likes, 2,326 Shares, and 171 comments. Of course, there are many negative comments from people that are animal lovers and against hunting in general, but fellow hunters also posted that didn’t think Kid Rock’s killing the cougar was cool.

“I am 100% for killing to eat but I am 100% against trophy killing. Kill it and grill it, or leave it alone.”

Another similar post agrees, also pointing out there’s a difference between killing to eat, and killing for a hunting prize.

“So who eats cat, the other white meat? No one. So lets call it what it is: a trophy hunt and most hunters do not like that. It’s a simple rule in the South, only shoot what you are going to eat!”

Others did agree with Nugent, however, saying Kid Rock not only hadn’t done anything wrong, but that hunting mountain lions is a necessary and required thing to do in some areas for the health of the ecosystem, livestock, and even the health of the mountain lion population.

And the notion that people don’t eat mountain lion? Apparently not true, as several posters rave about how great cougar meat is, even if you can’t find it at your local grocer. Will Kid Rock eat the mountain lion he shot? If so, there are many, supposedly delightful, recipes.
