Tim Tebow Hosting 50 Proms For Special Needs Adults Complete With Red Carpet And Limo Rides

Tim Tebow is giving an awesome Valentine’s Day gift to a few thousand people with special needs this year.

The former NFL quarterback’s foundation is hosting close to 50 Night to Shine proms, which take place the day before Valentine’s Day this year and each will include about 100 participants.

The event actually has a bigger meaning for Tebow. It takes place on the five-year anniversary of his Tim Tebow Foundation, and gives participants a night they will always remember.

Heisman.com noted some of the details.

“This nationwide event will take place on February 13, 2015, simultaneously at participating churches across the country. Each prom will include special elements, consisting of a red carpet entrance with paparazzi, limousine rides, hair and makeup beauty stations, shoeshines, a dance floor, food and much more. At least 100 people with special needs are expected to be in attendance at each church for this nationwide event.”

Tim Tebow said the “Night to Shine” proms also have a close connection to his own faith.

“We are so excited to be able to create this opportunity for thousands of people around the country with special needs… This event perfectly fits our mission to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”

Though his NFL career days now appear to be over, Tim Tebow has continued to have a big impact through his charitable work. The former Heisman Trophy winner recently opened the Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City, serving critical orthopedic needs of children unable to afford treatments.

“These are simple procedures we take for granted in the U.S.,” Executive Director of the Tim Tebow Foundation Erik Dellenback said.

“The reality is that we hope to show people in the Philippines that there is faith, hope and love out there. We want to show them that the Western world cares about them and that they’re not a deserted nation.”

Tebow has a special connection to the Philippines, and was born there when his parents worked there as missionaries. He has made several trips to serve the people, including extensive work at an orphanage.

“I have always had a great love and passion for the Filipino people… It is so exciting to be able to provide healing and care for these incredibly deserving children halfway around the world.”
