Sadie Robertson Says ‘DWTS’ Pro Val Chmerkovskiy Makes Her Uncomfortable [Video]
Sadie Robertson recently had to switch partners on Dancing with the Stars, and it’s a good thing the Duck Dynasty star didn’t get paired with Val Chmerkovskiy.
Sadie Robertson is trading Mark Ballas for Derek Hough this week, and she couldn’t be more thrilled about being paired up with the five-time Mirror Ball Trophy winner. In fact, she recently shared an Instragram photo of herself literally leaping with joy. In the photo’s caption, she thanked America for choosing Derek as her switch-up partner.

Sadie Robertson was probably extremely nervous while waiting to find out who her temporary Dancing with the Stars partner would be because there was one pro who she was terrified of being paired with: Val Chmerkovskiy. According to Wetpaint, Sadie talked about being “intimidated” by Val during The Badie Show, a YouTube series that she and fellow competitor Bethany Mota created to document their DWTS experience.
Robertson said that she gets “nervous” around Chmerkovskiy, and Mota admitted that she’d also have a hard time dancing with Val because she finds him so “intense.”
“Yeah, I’m, like, intimidated by him. I really am,” a very giggly Sadie said. “I don’t know, he’s so scary to me.”
Cocky Val Chmerkovskiy had an explanation for why Sadie Robertson and Bethany Mota are so intimidated by him. The DWTS pro used Twitter to weigh in on the girl’s convo about him.

Val Chmerkovskiy has been dancing with Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish, but he’ll be making Back to the Future star Lea Thompson weak at the knees this week — she might feel like she’s on a hoverboard while dancing with the hottie. According to People, Janel will be doing a burlesque dance with Artem Chigvintsev.
No matter who her partner is, Sadie Robertson shouldn’t be too worried. She’s been doing well almost every week, and her duck dance from last week earned her 37 out of 40 points. Mark Ballas donned a fake beard to score extra points with Sadie’s Duck Dynasty fans, and now Derek Hough has joked about trying a similar move.
“I was joking that I should grow my blonde beard out and it’ll be Albino Duck Dynasty,” Hough wrote in a TV Guide post. “I don’t think we’ve had that yet!”
Derek revealed that he’s been staying with the Duck Dynasty clan in Louisiana, and he and Sadie are having a great time riding four-wheelers in between their practice sessions.
