Day of Rage Underway on Wall Street, Protestors Flood Downtown Manhattan

With the “Arab Spring” protests of the past year or two serving as inspiration, Twitter and Facebook have been used to organize a large group of protestors on Wall Street and an “occupation” of Wall Street is currently underway.
Twitter is currently also being used as a platform for non-attendees to weigh in on the controversy, with a steady stream of “for” and “against” tweets either lauding the efforts or dismissing protesters as about to get bored and seek a Starbucks on their iPhones or “burn daddy’s money.” Web activist groups and collectives including The Other 98% (an organization lobbying for corporate and top 2% tax reforms and the like) and the formidable Anonymous have been linked with the protests- more of which are occurring in satellite locations.
One circulated statement urging participation said:
“On the 17th of September, we want to see 20,000 people to flood into lower Manhattan, set up beds, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months. Like our brothers and sisters in Egypt, Greece, Spain, and Iceland, we plan to use the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic of mass occupation to restore democracy in America. We also encourage the use of nonviolence to achieve our ends and maximize the safety of all participants.”
Currently, #takewallstreet has overtaken #occupywallst as a trending topic on the microblogging service and even celebrities are getting in on the fray. Roseanne Barr has tweeted on her feed, @therealroseanne, and rapper Lupe Fiasco posted:
If anybody needs me I’ll be on Wall St:
#iwilloccupy#occupywallstreet@OccupyWallSt@OccupyWallStNYC
Total headcount estimates for the event have not been attempted yet. The protest’s official site is located here.

If I could only join the marchers…I'm there in spirit anyway!
Sep 17, 2011
Sending the marchers fire energy and courage…I'm there is Spirit. – MM
Sep 17, 2011
Once again those that Refuse to work the hours that those who are on Wall st. and make the money they do because of the time and amount of work that they put in…are being selfish. Get out of the Real working mans way and let them give to their families what you can't because you refuse to work THAT hard.
Sep 17, 2011
What a bunch of ignorant idiots……..
Sep 17, 2011
Time to march your ignorant fucking asses off to jail…..
Sep 17, 2011
If I believed for one second these knuckleheads had a clue what they were protesting, I might be compelled to listen. They come across as a bunch of ignorant, lazy punks who refuse to work protesting those who do. Not the most persuasive image for one's argument.
Sep 17, 2011
Professional protesters…gotta make a living somehow.
Sep 17, 2011
If these youngsters only realized what they're asking for is a flat tax with no loopholes for anyone. More education and less emotion would be beneficial to their cause.
Sep 17, 2011
Foolishness. New agey bullshit is as impotent as these idiots are.
Sep 17, 2011
The significance of the "#OccupyWallStreet" (not Day of RAGE as the news is calling it) is that today is Constitution Day & also Citizens' Day.
Seems not as many showed up as hoped. The weekend is still young. Hopefully more show up by tomorrow night to camp out so Monday there can be MORE coverage. This may get even more people, young, old, white collar and blue, to show up in support.
Sep 17, 2011
It is true. And I am not ""New Age" by any strech of the imagination… If anything, I am "Old Age"; been there, done that, seen it all; revolution in Hungary, wars in Israel, I observe and see facts of life as they are. And yes, I do have an ageless personality and eternal spirit burning for the "underdog"; I am standing up against social unfairness, hypocrisy, bigotry and all what Wall Street is about. – MM
Sep 17, 2011
Sorry Curtis. I am a CPA. My friends are all professionals who work. Most get 6 figures. We are going in a few to support these people who are protesting the way our government basically has no accountability to piss away our money. I nearly lost my house because of AIG, not because of missed payments. That is scary.
Sep 17, 2011
Will they actually admit that they are socialist/communists?
Sep 17, 2011
It's hard work fucking up the entire world economy.
Sep 17, 2011
Maybe people are just tired of bailing out billioners with their hard earned money, while their social security, medicare and social services are about to be cut down or eliminated! – MM
Sep 17, 2011
They'll not, because they're not. When will you admit you're brainwashed & delusional believing that what we have here in the U.S. is capitalism. Oh yeah, it's laissez faire for the average Joe, but socialism for the big companies when we bail them out. Right wing people just wear me out.
Sep 17, 2011
With all due respect then, Mike Vignapiano, what is the symbolism of going to Wall Street? Protesting the companies who were balied out? I mean help me understand this….
Sep 17, 2011
You are a silly, silly woman.
Sep 17, 2011
Another message board not only referred me to this article but to your reply. We couldn't agree more. So tired of these crybabies doing what they do best – nothing. They never rally for those who die for the right to complain and never thank those who make it possible to not live in a 3rd world reality. They are truly useless people.
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More Isn't that strange? – that is exactly what the TEA Party says.
Sep 17, 2011
L Dean Clark Have you seen who organized them – have you read the twitter feed? Unions, Communists, Socialists are encouraging shutting down the government. Who wants the big companies bailed out – the TEA Party is against that – in fact a lot of the complaints of the TEA Party are similar to the NY group. However, more government intervention is NOT the answer.
Sep 17, 2011
Mike Vignapiano Then these communist are using you. How does it fill to almost lose your house cause of communist liberal democrats and then support the same people again. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. The democrates forced banks to lend to people who could not pay it back. Which causes problems and now you marching with them your the dummest rich person I have ever heard of besides al gore, seiu, and afl-cio they are just rich dummy commies who are liberal democrats Ha HA HA HA HA
Sep 17, 2011
These people aren't protesting Wall St. They are using Wall St as an excuse to spread another message entirely but they don't have the courage to be honest about it. These are the people who would never protest Hitler, Al Queda or those responsible for Darfur but would gladly blame white conservatives or 'zionists' for all the World's problems. Get to know the people behind these protests and what motivates them and notice the same trends that exist with this protest and the anarchist protests during G20 summits. Same crybaby anarchists who contribute nothing to our planet, different day. Nothing to see, folks.
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More so your saying you do not like communist socialist democrats progressive liberals who created all these problems
Sep 17, 2011
SO what in the hell does wall street have to do with the current administrations machinations? Shoudn't these morons be in D.C.?
Sep 17, 2011
Travis Meharry OK – since you don't know me at all (and you never will…) it's OK with me to be silly… rather, than ignorant and rude. – MM
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More then get gov. our of everything except protecting the USA
Sep 17, 2011
Wait, you people actually think Hedge fund managers who make a billion a year work harder than someone who has 2 jobs and still can't pay the bill? WOW you have a serious misconception of people who makes lots of money vs those who don't. In fact the working class on average work FAR harder and more hours than the rich who are mostly investors so they sit on their butt and do NOTHING.
Sep 17, 2011
Wow so you personally know EVERY person protesting? Sounds like you are being the typical clueless judgmental American.
Sep 17, 2011
Christopher Haley – Please do not put words in my mouth. I never said anything about me liking one party or the other, accusing one or the other for creating the problems this country is facing!! And if I ever said anything re: socialism and communism,…(and I didn't!!) at least I would come from full knowledge of what these regimes are all about, since I lived under them as a child…. So at least I would know what I'm talking about. – MM
Sep 17, 2011
Yea bums people who don't work will not work and have no families to feed other than there own selfish mouths. If you have time and money to protest you must be a very rich person
Sep 17, 2011
Christopher if Dems are what you think they are then Repubs are corporatists who are trying to create the first corporate run government. You might want to look up what a communist and socialist is. Unregulated capitalism creates corporatism. Our government is a puppet of big business, NOT a puppet of the people.
Sep 17, 2011
Catherine Sell – I can assure you, that the Tea Party is "not my cup of tea"!!! – MM
Sep 17, 2011
inb4 everyone protesting is a _______.
Sep 17, 2011
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA.
Please re-read your previous statement, you dork. You have really quite seriously contradicted yourself.
Sep 17, 2011
Obviously Americans have already forgotten how we got into the recession we are in now. It certainly wasn't because of irresponsible working and middle class people investing in very bad investments and then expecting the government to bail them out. THAT WAS WALL STREET AND HALF OF YOU SEEM TO BE JUST FINE WITH IT. They are all still make record salaries and profits while the rest of hard working America suffers. Does a wall street investor have to physically fire you, take your house and everything you own before you finally get pissed at how the rich seem to get off scott free while the rest of us suffer?
Sep 17, 2011
John Calchera – I second everything you had said! – MM
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More No you're not. You're a dupe.
Sep 17, 2011
They are not protesting those who work on Wall St. just those who invest in Wall St. and pay very little to nothing in taxes. You seem to miss the point….
Sep 17, 2011
>implying everyone who has ever protested is automatically a socialist.
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More That is who these protesters are. If you do not know that then they have you fooled. I have listened to them for years. It is there words not mine. They have quit hiding and come out and tell you who they are. George soros is funding this. A tree has a trunk the trunk has branches the branches have branches and those branches have branches and those branches have leaves, soros is the trunk
Sep 17, 2011
communist democrats? I don't think that word means what you think it means…
Sep 17, 2011
John Calchera yea well destoying this country and causing the loss of millions of jobs is not what is good for people of this country or me and my family. The democrats started this housing downfall in 1998 under billy clinton. You get back to the constituion of the U.S. and God everything will be alright. And democrates are progressive communist liberal liars out to destroy every man woman and child in this country. I have heard with my ears from their mouths
Sep 17, 2011
Christopher Haley – a functioning government is necessary, as without it's leadership there will be anarchy and chaos. But the government needs to be there to protect the country and serve ALL people, not only the rich! So if you call that Socialism, than so be it. Whatever works. – MM
Sep 17, 2011
Christopher Haley , don't you mean Republican started housing downfall?
Sep 17, 2011
Mike Vignapiano Dont listen to these idiots. They are working for the same people you are protesting about. (Unpaid which makes it even funnier.) I would be protesting too if I could get there from the UK. We're having our own in London on November 5th.
Sep 17, 2011
Travis Meharry How is she… your comment has no grounds and you sould pathetic.
Sep 17, 2011
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Not sure if trolling or just really stupid…
Judging by your age you probably dont know what a troll is so you must be stupid.
Sep 17, 2011
Well, good people I'm out of this conversation, as I'm not willing to be abused by ignorant people criticizing me, contradicting themselves posting hateful comments I'm not interested reading any longer. The sun is shining out there, so I'm out of here…. goodbye you all. I'm sure each of you convinced in your righteousness and entitled to your individual opinions. Have a good day!!! – MM
Sep 17, 2011
and on a side-note, even if they have socialist or communistic views, in this country as a citizen they still have the right to protest peacefully.
Sep 17, 2011
Unlike yourself ofcourse who consume, populate, polute and systermatically destroy the planet. Everyone here can see that you and you retarded friends like Travis Maharry support the evil bankers. WHo INVENTED Al Quaeda, and FUNDED hitler.
Sep 17, 2011
They are not protesting those who work for wall street, but those who run it. The control system… do a little bit of fucking research once in your life.
Sep 17, 2011
Gee! I wonder where these people have their pension plans invested. For some reason I think WallStreet has something to do with the amount of money they have for retirement,. Or maybe we should let the people earning min, wage or on welfare decide who is rich and how much they should pay in taxes.
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More Dont listen to them, they are trying to discredit and divide people. They show how little they know of anything through their comments. You dont deserve the abuse they gave you but they are just imature children with access to the internet.
Sep 17, 2011
Democracy: when you have a super supper committee of 2 wolves and 1 sheep deciding what's for supper.
Sep 17, 2011
hahha I love the moral high ground these wage slaves take, shh put your nose back to the grind stone & accept your corperate shaftings like good boys & girls
Sep 17, 2011
Before you comment on the "Day of Rage", you best do some research, because it's not what you think it is, they do have a hidden agenda. knowledge is the key to set man free.
Sep 17, 2011
Thank you Ehavi!! And these kind of people cannot break my spirit; I will always speak my truth, they don't seem to know the basics on any of the topics they're talking about and I'm not about to waste this beautiful, sunny day on arguing their hopelessly brainwashed minds. – MM
Sep 17, 2011
inb4 Trolls.
Sep 17, 2011
Don Major mind telling us what that is?
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More Perhaps in their previous life they were a stone or a jellyfish or something. So their brains havent fully developed yet and cant proscess information as it stares them blindly in the face lol
Sep 17, 2011
Evahi Emanon hey know, give the jellys some credit. at least they can filter nutrients without having to sell their brains to Fox news.
Sep 17, 2011
I hope that they clean up when they are done. The last time a group like this hit DC, they left it looking like a garbage dump. You must be very careful about what you want because sometimes you get it an have to live with it a long time.
Sep 17, 2011
Raymond O'Keefe they miss the point on purpose, they want the conversation to get away from the issue of corporate personhood.
Sep 17, 2011
So massive layoffs for missed days at work & insubordination? I will be more than happy to occupy one of those newly vacant positions…
Sep 17, 2011
Joel Holtzman , how many times did you go to jail protesting bushes war? Huh, Joel? How many times diid you go to Walter Reed and get arrested protesting the deplorable conditions there? You are a know nothing! Many of the people on Wall St protesting the rape of this country also protested the mistreatment of the soldiers by the damn companies like Halliburton and KBR. Get a friggin clue.
Sep 17, 2011
Wall Street was moving around OTC derivatives that dug this country into a 595 trillion dollar hole by 2007. Yeah right, blame the protestors because those on Wall Street work so hard creating nothing.
Sep 17, 2011
Don major, please tell us what that knowledge is?
Sep 17, 2011
Jack Enders
I like it. They're gonna be so mad when they read these comments.
>Implying they understand whats been said.
Sep 17, 2011
Catherine Sell -exactly the tea party only wants lower taxes and fairness. Its BS that the dems are trying to isolate us with big business. We are not about big business, we want lower taxes for the middle class and fairness. dems want companies to take big money for kickbacks behind closed doors etc. Its sad anymore. We need to figure out how to get either party left or right to do the job we elected them to do when the ones that lie like harry reid and barney franko and his lover need to step down.
Sep 17, 2011
Its not my fault if the truth hurts.
Sep 17, 2011
"I fucking hate people that assume all poor/homeless people are just lazy. I work 40 hours a week but @ minimum wage it would still be difficult for me to move out and support myself without any help from my parents. It's the people that collect our trash, deliver our papers at 2 am, clean up all our shit and especially teach our kids that should be making fucking bank. The people that sit on their asses and tell other people what to do should be getting minimum wage"
Sep 17, 2011
Don Major Set us free… what knowledge?
Sep 17, 2011
Travis Meharry The banking system controls and manipulates the government, come on… there is so much information out there just open your eyes and see it. Look for it if you have to.
Sep 17, 2011
Miriam More Bravo!! Well said that is the problem at hand, greed is the base of all evil.
Sep 17, 2011
Those who do not, or will not work, will always protest any measure that strangles the public teat that provides for their non productive, saprophytic existence.
Sep 17, 2011
Could this be part of the Hegelian Dialect? The useful idiots are encouraged to take to the streets, then the authoirities use this as an excuse to tighten the screws?
Sep 17, 2011
Lets crash wall street and destroy huge corporations. Oh wait that means all govt. pensions will crash and overpaid union workers would lose thier jobs. These protesters are morons,
Sep 17, 2011
What a joke. This is not a grass roots movement. This was planned by radicals in high places. If anyone cared to listen, Glenn Beck knew this would happen six months ago.
Sep 17, 2011
Don Major Leave poor ole Don alone, can't you see his tinfoil hat is too tight?
Sep 17, 2011
Ian…do you have any idea how many hours THEY work? UH? 40 hours? That's all you do? For them it is all week all weekend and it is 24/7! Those are hours you would NEVER put in…you are whining about 40. They have EARNED that money. And how about their kids..do you even think about what you are doing to them? NOPE too selfish. PLEASE!
Sep 17, 2011
Aristoteles Martins you are right. It's typical rightwingnut spin & slur. Hurrah for anyone who goes to the effort to protest a country lost to the corruption of the corporations! I've busted my ass since I was 13; I own everything, no debts, and am watching my life savings become worthless, thanx to Wall street "hard workers". They work hard at stealing.
Sep 17, 2011
Man I can't believe how many of you are THAT stupid. Do you really have to blame others for your stupidity? Next time vote with Intellegents. BTW…with out the RICH guy's there would be no jobs. they are the ones that create those Jobs. Joel, you are a smart man. Thank you for being real.
Sep 17, 2011
Christopher Haley you really are a nut case. What a pathetic bit of mindless spite & shit you write.
Sep 17, 2011
Travis Meharry – how would you describe yourself, when all you can do is slur, with nothing to support it?
Silly she may be, but you are a stupid asshole. How's that for tit for tat?
Sep 17, 2011
Deen, your a brainwashed puppet. you liberals don't do anything smart. you have no idea what is going on and you don't care. You just want to hurt others that have it "better" if you want it you can have it, just do it without hurting others. Guess that's hard for Violent, nasty, ugly, rude, crude and racist liberals too actually see. Yes their are Blacks and hispanics that work on wall st. I guess you are a racist, you refuse to let them make money. Well that's just more typical hatefilled liberal blabber.
Sep 18, 2011
Catherine Sell you are mindless as the rest of the teabagging, Koch-sucking, santorum-slurping scum on the far right.
Sep 18, 2011
Evahi Emanon, you tell that dumb shit just where it's at! Keep on truckin', baby.
Sep 18, 2011
Catherine Sell inform yourself. The teabaggers are owned outright by the Koch brothers.
Sep 18, 2011
Deen Hollingsworth Uninformed, uninteligent, unreliable, and just plain stupid. Come back when you have a valid argument.
Sep 18, 2011
Jane Jones good for you, girl. They really are Republitards.
Sep 18, 2011
Difficult to follow you, Jimbo, but Wall st. has everything to do with the loss of pensions, the looting of pensions, and the devaluing of our life savings.
Sep 18, 2011
"Petit" refers to the size of your IQ, I take it? Speaking of morons…..
Sep 18, 2011
You dumb fuck, I have worked all my life. Shit for brains, you have.
Sep 18, 2011
So you are a traitor to this country?
Sep 18, 2011
Deen Hollingsworth We can't do without Wall St. Wall St. needs the government to police them. We have the wolves policing the sheep.
Sep 18, 2011
Deen Hollingsworth Pretty sarcastic reply. I'm just stating what a democracy is. It is mob rule.
Sep 18, 2011
>Liberals not smart? http://chrisevans3d.com/files/iq.htm
read your own comment and tell me you aren't hate filled and biased.
I await your reply calling me a socialist racist liberal.
Sep 18, 2011
Hank, that's not how sentences end bro…

"Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." -Universal Declaration of Human Rights
See, we can quote stuff too.

thanks for calling us morons, but you dun goof'd.
Sep 18, 2011
I see right wing morons that like being slaves to capitalism. Give it revolution, people, take America back from the robber barons!
Sep 18, 2011
@katie andrews kaplin:
perhaps because they worked too hard and too long they needed others to bail them out when they became "too big to fail"…
Sep 18, 2011
Miriam — love your comments about NYC protest & am sending friend request………….
Sep 18, 2011
Travis Meharry……"YES" Washigton D.C., that's where crooks and liars reside, but this group has a completely different agenda than the Tea Party's……
Sep 18, 2011
John Calchera -FAULTY LOGIC.
Sep 18, 2011
Evahi Emanon -The Wahabi sponsored Deobandi Maddrassas created the Taliban. Al Qaeda is quite simply a loose collective of Multinational Sunni Mujahadeen. And you are an ignorant mouthbreather.
Sep 18, 2011
Travis Meharry yet you conviniently ignor mine and Jack's
Sep 18, 2011
HAHA brilliant, I love George Orwell. And that is exactly what is happening hear.
Sep 18, 2011
And your ridiculous politicization of the concept of transmigration of the soul is a provincial and rather feeble attempt to derail any oppositional argument by stating that any dissent from your ideology is the result of a lesser soul of some type. What are you, some sort of spiritual fascists?
Sep 18, 2011
The top 1% pay 38.02% of income tax in the USA. The bottom 50% pay just 2.7% of income tax. Support the FAIR TAX and let everyone pay their fair share, including illegals and visitors to the states.
Sep 18, 2011
0/10 nice try.
Sep 18, 2011
Travis Meharry tl:dr lack of grammer put me off.
Sep 18, 2011
"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama Presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a witless and depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their President. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their President." Carl Marx had a name for people like this he called them useful idiots.
Sep 18, 2011
Evahi Emanon Too many syllables? Have another brownie.
Sep 18, 2011
Evahi Emanon Spelled "grammar" incorrectly while correcting me, you mincing wanker.
Sep 18, 2011
Ah, the useful idiots are out again.
Sep 18, 2011
Real cool story, bro. to bad its all wrong.
Sep 18, 2011
remind me again how the head of the democratic party in america is a Marxist?
Sep 18, 2011
Jack Enders I was stating my own opinion, not quoting something someone else told me I had to believe. Sheeple should know better.
Sep 18, 2011
well then Tim Sheahon , in my opinion you are a scathing fool if you think all protesters are lazy and nonproductive.
Sep 18, 2011
remember that little place called Egypt?
Sep 18, 2011
Hey Katie, I don't have the time to LIVE here because of my 70 hour work weeks, Miss. "Top Commenter." Oh, and my work is physical and I'm not allowed a phone on the floor. Unlike you, I can't surf the net on the clock all day. Must be nice, you spoiled b*tch.
Sep 18, 2011
Technically he is a Socialist.
Sep 18, 2011
yeah sure, and i'm the Easter Bunny.
Sep 18, 2011
the idea that these people are lazy is conditioned in to your sheep brain….wake the fuck up ! did we not just bail them out 980 billion of our tax dollars to these crooks and you think lazy has anything to with why they are out there ….and joel ..u fucking simp .you know why those troops are in those non legal wars ….yup you guessed it money this nonsense about helping them out is bullshit its nation building to prop up the corporate american interests ..
Sep 18, 2011
That's awesome!!! Hey next year could you bring me few more of those Cadbury caramel eggs I love those things.
Sep 18, 2011
Too bad 38% of nothing is still nothing. They dont have taxable income, bypassing that entirely.
Sep 18, 2011
Problem: the top 1% own 90% of the wealth so they are getting off easier than the working poor.
Sep 18, 2011
You guys who think that the Banksters & Wall Street are so innocent need to learn to read. The F—ed us ALL and got away with it. They need to be behind bars and those that are too stupid to even know that they have been robbed need to go back to school!!!
Sep 18, 2011
Knowledge is knowing that Americans were robbed by the Banksters & Wallstreet and they are still gambling with our hard earned money to this day!!!
Sep 18, 2011
I would love to be able to go out and work and make enough to feed my wife and kids just one thing all the businesses that have the big tax breakes have moved their businesses over seas so they can hire people to work for 3.00 HR than sell their goods and services here in America to all their friends in ploitics who get kick backs for keeping the tax loop holes in place for them and their friends on wall street who sell their stock. I love America and I'm fore making profit but I'm also all for using that profit to pay American Workers that make and provide the goods and services that make the Corporations the profit they so much enjoy.
Sep 18, 2011
Mike Vignapiano, I can't believe the stupidity of these people that think it is great that Wall Street & the Banksters steal Americans hard earned money. How can they be so STUPID?????????
Sep 18, 2011
A bunch of "hobos" in one place wont solve anything, if they really want to help you have to help the lower class yourself, start a soup kitchen or something…
Sep 18, 2011
Catherine Sell, cut the crap with the Communists & Socialist name calling. AMERICANS were robbed. Wake up and get your ASS off of FAUX NOISE TV!!!!
Sep 18, 2011
Get your brainwashed FAUX NOISE quotes correct or don't quote at all captainmathers!!!!
Sep 18, 2011
WALL STREET is a Mirage.. There used to be traders and computers there.. But the Wall Street Exchange was bought by a German company and the trading and computers are all in Germany. You are protesting in front of an empty building. The mega Rich in the US got smart and had the exchange ESSENTIALLY moved to Germany with Wall Street just being a "Window dressing".
Sep 18, 2011
Way to make a statement by occupying Wall St…on a Saturday when it's closed.
Sep 18, 2011
Raymond O'Keefe I see you don't take issue with the ~50% of the population who pay no taxes and live off the government dole.
Sep 18, 2011
You can't serve God and Money.
Sep 18, 2011
When the divide between the top and the middle class becomes so enormous, the bubble always pops like it did in the great depression. That's when the government has to step in and create jobs. That's the only way to get money back into the economy. Keynesian economics is the only thing that will save the economy. The real economy is on Main Street, too bad the politicians are bought to do Wall Street's bidding and are still gambling away main street's hard earned money.
Sep 18, 2011
There's nothing wrong with being rich. But why should such such a small group be able to hoard and destroy the economy? They need to pay their share just like the hard-working middle class.
Sep 18, 2011
Thus the reason nothing will ever change in this country because ignorant people scream at each other via the internet over people who use their constitutional right to assemble peacefully and protest. Why is this a problem? Tell me 1 bad thing about it? because of what political views you think they might have? A hidden agenda? Still doesn't change the fact that they are protesting PEACEFULLY against corruption in our government. I am all for it, I would be there myself if I didn't live 1000 miles away.
Sep 18, 2011
That protester's sign is not only grammatically incorrect, but also numerically as well.
The top 1% pays 38.02% of the taxes. The top 50% pay 98%. The BOTTOM 2% pay 2.7%.
Source: Taxpayers Union.
Sep 18, 2011
The entire US economy is based on GREED and FEAR. The gov't supports the banks and cuts money for education. The CEOs make 350 times what the slaves on Wall street get. It that equality, Katie? Many Americans are working 3 jobs to support a family of 4. Don't tell them they are not hard working.
Sep 18, 2011
When are the banks going to pay back the people (middle income tax-payers) who bailed them out? That's the knowledge I'm interested in.
Sep 18, 2011
The names people call others to avoid thinking reflect their intelligence. Go ride your bike, Eric. What are you afraid of, Travis? Go, Miriam, Go! Living life in honesty and believing in the Truth of your Heart will lead you to a full life.
Sep 18, 2011
Katie Andrews Kalpin and how many inherited it from mommy and daddy? your argument is moronic at best.
Sep 18, 2011
As a small time invester with out a lot of money to but into the market and this is going to hurt me financialy. But more importantly it will hurt America. I invest because I believe in America and I am helping to make jobs for those who want to work. I am millitary so I might be a little bias when I say this but we live in a land of great opportunity and wealth. If you are mad that you don't have the wealth or opportunity that many people have maybe you are the problem.
Sep 18, 2011
ok,,,,lets start from the begining,,in 1991 acorn sue the bank of america,,which caused every bank to start lending to everyone including freddiemac and fannymae and every other bank and started independant lender especally fleet which ended fleet financial group….i worked for them so i know,,,remember we were n 60 minutes,,,becuase of the kennedy's ,,,and their buyout of kkl. then fannie and freddie open up their regs and allowed everyone to loan because of potential lawsuits of the 1977 act of equal housing act and the law suits of 1991 against boa,,,,that allow this everyone have a mortgage and the downfall of america,,,they traded these group mortgages which were not backed or overrated on the markget and then overrated ,,,so is it the money raiders fault for play a liberal game taking advantage of the rules or capitalist playing along….that is the name of the game.
Sep 18, 2011
Christopher Haley , please put a sock in your mouth. Everybody screaming doesn't make a conversation. Listen to what the others are saying, do your groundwork, and then answer or comment. Please, your not on national tv in a screaming debate.
Sep 18, 2011
Christopher Haley speaking of dumb…how do you spell feel? fill, seriously! HAHAHAHA
Sep 18, 2011
We have to take a stand somewhere in this country! We have had Bush bail out his "base" on his way out the door, only to have Obama come in and bail out the same "base"… which is the elitist controlling society that runs this country. It is pretty evident now, unless you have been brainwashed by the media one way or the other. We have more choices as a nation that red or blue, elephant or jack-ass! Wake the F^@$ up people. I used to be a republican, until I started seeing how evil they really are. The Dems are no better. I am conservative, but we have to get out of these wars that provide breeding grounds of hate against our country. We have to take care of the unemployed until we create jobs. And for God's sake, we have to take care of our elderly! The money can come from bringing our troops home to protect our own border for God's sake. What kind of toxic kool-aid are you hateful, evil Republicans drinking? Seriously, Jesus helped the poor and turned over the money changers tables! You sick F#@&'s are Social Darwinist's who want everyone who has lost a home or a job to starve and die.
Sep 18, 2011
or maybe we just don't like bailing out criminals that don't deserve it.
Sep 18, 2011
I hope God teaches you what its like to suffer, maybe lose a job, or a home…you Social Darwinist!
Sep 18, 2011
Shane, I don't think that's a fair assessment in a country where we have 20% real unemployment. The fact is the jobs aren't there- they were converted into corporate profit. The employed are doing more work for less money, and that's why people are mad. Either they have no job or they're doing three of them. We need to get this country back on track and fast or it's going to get even worse.
Sep 18, 2011
Your absolutely right!!! Brooksley Bourne tried to warn Congress, but fat mouth Greenspan and Bush cronies shut her up!
Sep 18, 2011
Katie Andrews Kalpin shouldn't that read intelligent? hahahahahhhaha how clever are you!
Sep 18, 2011
i take deep offence at your remarks kate andrews kaplan, because of the activities of the reptiles of wall street my business has been destroyed as have countless others. i had worked hard for years to build what i had , only to see it destroyed by corporate greed from outside. the selfish freinzied way that the useless money creaps have behaved has destroyed the livelyhoods of countless people around the world. i don't care how hard these revolting pieces of canine excrement work, in fact i wish that they would go on strike for ever. then maybe people like myself would still have a livelyhood……i hope that the protesters burn people like you out of your offices……you are nothing but destructive filth.
Sep 18, 2011
They want to protest against corporations and wall street. Don't they know that CORPORATIONS are owned by all the people in common. It's the people that own stocks, pensions and 401k's that own the majority of corporations and that it's the population that demands profits for their pensions? As of right now it's most GOVERNMENT workers that get pensions? LIBERALS ARE SO STUPID!
Sep 18, 2011
Eric Nash so you are one of the arrogant reptiles who have been doing so many of us down are you????
Miriam More i am with you on this one…..i got ripped off and lied to by filth from the financial services proffession……..i would like to see them all replacing the blacks at a ku klux klan lynching/barbecue.
Sep 18, 2011
that's 138.72%….which was is impossible.
Sep 18, 2011
Miriam More Corporations are owned by the people in common. The majority of corporations are owned by 401k's, pensions funds and stockholders. And pensions are mostly paid to government workers. Libtards are so stupid…..it's their pensions that are in the corporations that they hate so much.
Sep 18, 2011
Hmmmm, aren't conservatives also people of common?
Sep 18, 2011
think before you make denouncing statements about fellow countrymen.
Sep 18, 2011
Travis Meharry you arrogant piece of pompous greedy sh*t, i get so tired off listening to the waffling self justification of your type. don't you get it the whole world hates your type, you serve no purpous on the path to building a sustainable future for this planet, yet like the rest of the wall street scumbags you are full of your own self importance………shame that you were not on one of the higher floors of the WTC on
the big day.
Sep 18, 2011
Jack Enders the downfall of the housing market was William Jefferson Clinton…he repealed the Glass Steagal act….look it up. That act protected us since this happened already during the great depression. http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2010/01/22/yearning-for-glass-steagall-on-capitol-hill/ You lie when you say it's Bush. Clinton threatened bankers if they didn't loan to impoverished minorities.
Sep 18, 2011
Cindy Johnson, just stop talking nonsense.
Sep 18, 2011
you can either prove that statement or sit on it.
Sep 18, 2011
Hey everybody. http://www.wpix.com/news/wpix-wall-street-protesters-corporate-greed-story,0,608840.story Join us!
Sep 18, 2011
Yep, but they aren't the one whining to "shut it down." If it shut down like they are chanting…then their 7 figure gov. pensions do down with it.
Sep 18, 2011
true true true
Sep 18, 2011
What are you talking about? Shut down wall street and you liberals will have your pensions, 401ks and your stock shut down. So who cares??
Sep 18, 2011
That will also shut down welfare & other entitlements because we won't be able to pay for it. Gov. doesn't have money…..it has to take it from the working man in taxes….can't pay taxes if you "shut it down." It's called logic…get some.
Sep 18, 2011
First protesting is not whining, its about public awareness, symbolism and reform.
Second, they are chanting for changes to wall street, not the end of it.
Sep 18, 2011
likely they want an end to the way corporations have been exploiting the middle class.
Sep 18, 2011
The reason you have the "Wall Street Problem" is because Clinton repealed the Glass- Steagall act and liberals demanded that poor people be allowed to borrow what they could not afford to buy all those houses.
Sep 18, 2011
joel holtzman you are obviously one of the criminals that got us into the mess that we are in. the anarchists are the ones whio tend to bring positive changes on this planet. rubbish like you with your never ending supply of dishonesty and arrogance are a disgrace not just to humanity but to carbon based matter itself. your type always seem to think that they have more right to be alive than anyone else…….i hope that wall street burns and you with it.
Sep 18, 2011
Oh so corporations that pay the taxes to support the gov. and the pensions for gov. workers are some how exploiting the middle class? I see.
Sep 18, 2011
edward horgan you should get yourself a job on southpark as a type cast you thick misserable retard brainwashed c**t.
Sep 18, 2011

Sep 18, 2011

Sep 18, 2011
http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html Clinton forced bad loans to poor people and minorities. NYT article. Clinton repealed the glass-steagall act. Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.
Sep 18, 2011
Do you not know that a corporation is a entity and that Corporations are owned by Many Americans in common? It's owned by the Citizens.
Sep 18, 2011
yes come on don if it is so important then why arn't you spilling the beans……….of coarse anyone who protests about injustice is a subversive comunist or muslim nutter aren't they?????
Sep 18, 2011
but you're lacking evidence entirely. and your acting like a entitled child.
Sep 18, 2011
Jack Enders look it up. Then get away from me.
Sep 18, 2011
excuse me sir is this your internet?
and the numbers don't lie, well in this case, they don't add up.
Sep 18, 2011
Ok don ill take this one for you and give them alittle.Ok government has been trying to get full controle over the internet .They dont care how ,but must take controle .Now there going to be saying in the news that see they are using places like facebook on the internet to Protest in large numbers. And if it wasnt for the ease of the internet we wouldnt have all this truble.Look how many times they mentions thing on the internet on this story. The government has alot of hidden agendas. They are just giving ppl right now enought to keep then at home and quite. This jobs bill they got going on isnt going to do any thing. The government is getting in to all kids of bizes they shouldnt be in.HELL WE WORK FOR THEM NOW ,AND MOST PPL HAVENT GOT THAT YET.YOU WILL VERY SOON THOW.
Sep 18, 2011
its exactly what our country needs REFORM we are falling apart at the seems we need these protests to prove we are TIRED of teh way the government is treating us.
Sep 18, 2011
Right on! If you have nothing better to do become a speed bump.
Sep 18, 2011
Mark Hevey Did you EVER think maybe they earned it? They sacrificed to get what they own? Only a very small amount of wealth is inherited..most millionaires are first generation. They are the producers of wealth. Why is owning something an act to be punished for? And why is paying SOMETHING not required in your opinion…you know…a fair share? Do you want us all to be EVEN..no matter what? Hmmm that sounds familiar….
Sep 18, 2011
Most of us couldnt have gone on any other day because we have JOBS.
Sep 18, 2011
Boy, Jack and Deen, those are all compelling arguements…hahahaha. I guess the truth hurts and you can come up with NOTHING but personal insults. Very revealiing.
Sep 18, 2011
Government is treating you? 99 weeks of unemployment? Government pensions breaking our nation..our states? And our deficit…borrowing 40 plus cents out of every dollar? How many jobs have you create to help create a new taxpayer? C'mon…think.
Sep 18, 2011
Jack Enders Oh my gosh…are you really this dumb? He's INCLUDING the top 1% in the second percentage…He's showing you where the taxes are paid in different snapshots…its not supposed to be added up. 1% pays 38.02% and IN Comparison, ALL of the top 50% pays 98%. And all of the bottom 2% pays 2.7%. Wow…my kid could get this this. Get away from me too.
Sep 18, 2011
Kim LaCapria And this will help HOW? Vote in the next election for a tea party supported candidate. That is the only think that can and will help…smaller government means more jobs
Sep 18, 2011
Do these protesters not understand that the pension funds are investors in wall street too? Wow.
Sep 18, 2011
If they want socialism maybe they should consider moving to Greece. But before they do they should investigate how that's working for them!
Sep 18, 2011
This is orchestrated by commies, a day of rage is actually lifted and copied from Bill Ayers (The Weathermen) For you college kids, my advice stay away from the SEIU and others like them who are instigating this movement and manipulating you…The over 25 crowd are just old hippies looking for something to hate on…here’s a link showing the true people behind this “movement” : http://www.theblaze.com/stories/seius-stephen-lerner-invokes-bill-ayers-days-of-rage-to-take-down-wall-street-this-september/.
Sep 18, 2011
“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.
― John Steinbeck.
Sep 18, 2011
Sueann/Jon, perhaps you should verify your facts before calling someone else a liar. Captainmathers is correct. http://www.ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income-taxes.html
Sep 18, 2011
Raymond O'Keefe , no Raymond, you are missing the point. This is nothing but class warfare by people who generally think redistrubting wealth is a role the government has to do. I'd suggest you reread the story of the goode that laid the golden egg. These clowns want to kill the goose to get the gold, and have no grasp of how wealth is created.
Sep 18, 2011
Jack, what the hell are you talking about? Lacking evidence? It's you socialists libtards that think you are entitled to other people's money. What are you going to do when China will no longer lend to us and the borrowed money for social programs will no longer be there? All these social programs that are out of control have been coming from the trillions of dollars borrowed and those days are coming to an end. Let's see how crazy you act when there's no welfare dollars on your EBT card.
Sep 18, 2011
See that stupid sign that guy is holding 1% don't pay taxes…..the top 5% pay over half the taxes. http://www.american.com/archive/2007/november-december-magazine-contents/guess-who-really-pays-the-taxes Your posts are incoherent and incorrect. Nobody is going to support you lazy libtards for the rest of your lives.
Sep 18, 2011
If they have created nothing, then why does everyone want to take it from them?
Sep 18, 2011
That sign, "Top 1% pay no taxes" is a lie. The top 5% pay over 50% of the taxes. What a bunch of illiterate, uneducated greedy losers. The bottom 50% in the country pay no taxes. I'm sick of these lying, freeloading, lazy liberals. We aren't going to support you every second of your life.
Sep 18, 2011
http://www.american.com/archive/2007/november-december-magazine-contents/guess-who-really-pays-the-taxes These are the statistics on who pays the taxes. Lazy idiots.
Sep 18, 2011
The sign is retarded, the top 5% of the country pay over half the taxes. http://www.american.com/archive/2007/november-december-magazine-contents/guess-who-really-pays-the-taxes Get your facts straight.
Sep 18, 2011
I am curious as to why the democratic party supported their efforts and their superposed ties to the "Arab Spring" events were flaunted.
Sep 18, 2011
Our current economic systems are unsustainable, unjust and environmentally detrimental.
Sep 18, 2011
why should I have to work when muppets like you will pay for me to sit on my backside all day?Hmmm wonder which one of us is the stupid?
Sep 18, 2011
katie don't you get it the deck is stacked against working americans cant compete.
Sep 18, 2011
corporate communism; we fought vietnam against communism and yet for the greed of capitalism there now our owner.and biggest importer.59,000 men and women died so some wall streetbanker could line there pockets, how soon we forget!
Sep 18, 2011
If it makes you feel any better Edward Im not a communist or a socialist,I am whats known as an anarchist
Sep 18, 2011
we just need to spead the wealth around alittle…….
Sep 18, 2011
But that's coming to an end…..thus the protesting….too many freeloaders you have to compete with now…seems they breed endlessly, dear.
Sep 18, 2011
That's an easy cop out. Wall Street does not the economy make for your obvious need of education, Katie Kalpin. Nothing gets produced, but derivatives and market strategies that have nothing to do with the REAL economy. Credit default swaps, bundling of sub prime loans to resell to unsuspecting investors, hedge fund short selling, insider trading,Banks involving themselves in activities that have nothing to do with Banking. How come all the revelations that are now resulting in Criminal proceedings against these Champions of Wall Street that you so seem to support. Count yourself lucky you have a job and stop being such an ass.
Sep 18, 2011
Don Major seriously?
Sep 18, 2011
Ben Poling ok i no u might be paranoid but i will both agree and disagree with u. first off no one can control the internet. as long as we are under the star-spangled banner, we are not communists. that also goes for the government. so u might want to stop this before brain overheats cuz something tells me you arent as bright as you think you are.
Sep 18, 2011
these people are americans! they would protest against any tyrrany or government wrong doing. Americans are the people who will never give up there nationality. even if something like red dawn happens. USA was made out of protest of tyrrany. so where is your logic? where is your PROOF? WHERE IS IT? i dont believe that you ever had any to start withg. so prove me wrong.
Sep 18, 2011
I have read several postings, with such divisions even among our own population that cares enough to follow the story nothing will ever be accomplished. We are a small percent believe me, others are simple minded enough to be persuaded by a campaign slogan, or are felons who cannot vote, or votes based on religious context of the political agenda. Culture in America has to change before anything else will. Culture people is what we need.
Sep 18, 2011
there are actually Americans working? Im in Michigan and there isnt shit here!
Sep 18, 2011
Deen Hollingsworth what a dumb ass reply, to jim. Are you a traitor hunter? we aint even found all the nazis yet slow down pal one thing at a time
Sep 18, 2011
Catherine Sell ok rep, listen up. if unions are communist, how about your unioon doesnt exist. youll become a worker. just another thiong to make profit off of. youll get no frights, no compensation, NOTHING! so now that doesnt sound right? because it isnt right. research your topic before you make yourself look like an idiot.
Sep 18, 2011
Evahi Emanon Uninformed, uninteligent, unreliable, and just plain stupid. Come back when you have a valid argument.
Sep 18, 2011
Jon Lovejoy why do you have to put 'c**t' at the end of every post?
Sep 18, 2011
Wish I could have been there. I had several friends from New York and the East coast who attended. Does anybody know how many people actually showed up? I haven't seen much media coverage…
Sep 18, 2011
The people I know who went are people who can't get full-time jobs because of the economy. Most are college students, or have a degree but still haven't been able to get more than a part-time minimum wage position or make enough to support themselves. This is why they want changes to the economy. The American Dream just isn't working so well anymore.
Sep 18, 2011
Tyler Wiedemann Well done you learnt to copy and paste. Congratulations. Did you read his comment btw?… "Catherine Sell you are mindless as the rest of the teabagging, Koch-sucking, santorum-slurping scum on the far right." – Personally I think I was bang on seing as all he sis was try and insult her for her beliefs.
Sep 18, 2011
Do you actually know anything about the people who are protesting? All the folks I know who went are college students or recent college grads who can't get better than a part-time minimum wage job because of the economy. They can't support themselves despite having done everything "right" according to the rules of society. That's why they're angry.
And that's not even to mention the folks who consider themselves too mature to go, the former middle-class breadwinners who have been laid off and can't find a job because their skills are no longer relevant in the American workplace.
All these people are rather pissed off about the fact that corporations and the rich have continued to get richer while the American Dream just isn't working for the former middle class.
Sep 18, 2011
Travis Meharry you think thats the point here… I chose to ignor your worthless contribution because all you do is use fancy words to make your unintelligent comments sound more edjucated. You insult people and bring up unrelated subjects to avoid the subject. You sound like a politition and theyre all highly edjucated but thick as pigs shit at the same time as well.
Sep 18, 2011
Cindy Johnson and the top 1% pay over 40%. Its the highes tax burden in the world on the ones who don't pay their fair shar.
Sep 18, 2011
Hey! How about a Day of Rage at the Mexican border??
Sep 18, 2011
I checked bloomberg and CNN all day yesterday and not a word about the protestors in the financial district.
Sep 18, 2011
Philip Piel I appreciate your opinions on this issue, but I place the derivatives crisis on Greenspan and his partners like Summers, Geithner, and Rubin. They fought against Brooksley Born, former chairman of the CFTC, who saw the dangers of 100% unregulated OTC during the go-go 90's. Unfortunately, the markets seemed to be doing great and no one could challenge Greenspan's "The market will right itself" philosophy. Greenspan himself, recanted his failed policy toward derivatives after being pulled into Capitol Hill hearings from retirement. OTC was not a creation of any President's policy. Indeed, most politicians don't even know what a derivative is. That is a large part of the problem in establishing rules of the road and why so many escaped prosecution. Even today, OTC has no fundamental governing rules. It's still the wild, wild west on Wall Street.
Sep 18, 2011
Still think it's funny how most of you think one party cares more than the other. When given the chance to cut their own pay and benefits both parties got rid of that idea. All either party cares about is staying in power by any means necesary and to hell with the average citizen. Not one single Republican has authored any job stimulus bills nor has any Democrat. Obama waited 3 1/2 years to even address jobs and his idea involved MORE SPENDING! Why aren't any of them offering companies incentives to brings jobs back from overseas? Republicans are in The corporate back pocket and Dems are in the Unions back pockets and both are to blame for jobs being scarce! Unions are unwilling to be flexible and Corporations only care about their CEO's and Boardrooms. When the American people get it through their heads that NEITHER party cares and WE THE PEOPLE, take back our country then and only then will things improve. Until them Repubs and Dems will continue to blame the other.
Sep 18, 2011
I believe much of this has to do with a misunderstanding and people scratching their heads. The tax code is so obscure and arcane as to make it nigh undecipherable to the masses. Taxes aren't going away. A government needs to raise at least a partial amount of money for essential goods and services through taxation to keep a nation in working order. However, it would behoove us to simplify the tax code and make it a flat or consumption tax, for everyone. No exceptions or exemptions for any person or business, unless it be for a person who is incapable of making a living (i.e. institutionalized for severe mental or physical problems, etc). The rest work in what fashion they can. We balance the budget every year, perhaps with the exception of times of war or unforseen national crisis. And even then, we pay it down as quickly as possible. Presidencies and congressional leaders should be required to make budgetary 10 year plans that carry on beyond administrations, keeping our eye on the ball and reducing petty squabbling and infighting. If we make these changes, I think that a great majority of the people (of upper, middle class and lower class) will see a more fair and transparent government. People in general just want to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect. Our budgetary constraints and tax code should reflect that.
Sep 18, 2011
Makes me smh, watching all of the Repub sheep and Democrat sheep point fingers at one another and call each other names, because that's what our elected officials like. If we can't agree amongst ourselves, than what makes you think they will ever agree on anything? We are a country divided!
Sep 18, 2011
People who make their money from investments pay a lower rate on their incomes than many who make less money in other fields. That is what I understand they are protesting. They want those people to pay their fair share.
Sep 18, 2011
Ruben Acosta That's telling
Sep 18, 2011
Jon Lovejoy That is really despicable. Do you hear what you are saying? Lynching? Really? Such violence. We are all Americans, who live under the rule of law. If you continue to threaten others you will be reported.

But my guess is that lots of those investors already PAID taxes on that money as they earned it..and saved it. So it's already had taxes paid on it once. A lower rate is fair. If people like Warren Buffett want to give more money to foundations say for job retraining or a food band or a fund for people in trouble that is fine. But older people who have worked and sacrificed to have investments should not be punished. A FAIR SHARE…they already paid their fair share.

tea party caring about other people? don't talk such trash.
Sep 18, 2011
the only thing they care about is electing the next bush.
Sep 18, 2011
Tammy Birchfiel Wilkerson, they aren't protesting millionaires, they are protesting wall street.
Sep 18, 2011
Tammy Birchfiel Wilkerson, ohohoh and you aren't a pot calling a kettle black yourself then are you miss?
The day I'm not allowed to think and say whatever I damn well please is the day I leave this great country. which seeing as most of you are defending those responsible the exploitation of your fellow citizens and decline in this great country that seems A HELL of a lot sooner then i care to give a date for. I have the right To be angry, I have the right to my opinion, and I certainly as hell have the right to defend myself.
Sep 18, 2011
its a media blackout. there likely won't be much initially.
Sep 18, 2011
Finally on Bloomberg:
http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2011-09-18/wall-street-occupied-by-a-few-hundred-people-as-protesters-ranks-dwindle.html
Sep 18, 2011
Cindy Johnson, I don't think arguing is going to be fruitful so ill just leave you with this.
IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO PROTEST.
and there is nothing you can say or do to prevent these people from trying to accomplish anything.
Arguing over semantics at this point is irrelevant and insipid.
Sep 18, 2011
Tammy Birchfiel Wilkerson, "awww suck it up barbra" I just wanted some numbers that someone didn't just pull out of a hat then screamed "evidence!", because im fairly certain you cannot exceed 100% of everything.
Sep 18, 2011
what did they do, make money out of air?
Sep 18, 2011
Joel Holtzman, I don't know what world you live in but the USA is just about a 3rd world country now!!!
Sep 18, 2011
Christopher Haley Cut the name calling. The Politicians are BOUGHT and the Banksters & Wallstreet are writing our legislation. Please grow a brain already!!
Sep 18, 2011
Catherine Sell, Bull CRAP. Most in the Tea party don't even know that they are fighting against their own interest. They are being used by the Rich & Power hungry!!!
Sep 18, 2011
The powers that be have orchastrated events to protect their wealth while caring little as the middle class slowly loses its numbers. Our wealth distribution is more looking less like a bell curve and more like a barbell. People unite! End the tyranny of the rich and vote all Republicans out of office.
Sep 18, 2011
As soon as you Edward Horgan admit that you are a brainless FAUX NOISE idiot!!
Sep 18, 2011
Ha Ha Ha I seem to have hit a nerve! The truth hurts does it not?
Sep 18, 2011
Cindy Johnson Do you think the rest of the earners in the country could afford to pay half the taxes? You should be asking yourself that before you continue encouraging the top 2% to continue hoarding wealth and using it to accrue more wealth. The bottom earners in the country don't spend their money to invest it; they use it to spend on basic necessities.
Sep 18, 2011
people need to tell where they found their facts, such as top 5%, 1%, what these protesters are really trying to do? why
Sep 18, 2011
just a short name or site so people can try to look at the facts boyh for and against.
Sep 18, 2011
Ah, so making a statement isn't as important as grinding away like a good little cog in the machinery of business you felt so compelled to protest. Got it.
Sep 18, 2011
I love the way these FAUX loving goons have nothing better to do but spew Socialism Socialism as if it were a HORRIBLE thing. I would love to have my tax money pay to educate our kids and cover the costs of Health care. Rather do that then have to pay taxes to enrich the CEO's & exec's pockets ESPECIALLY when most are GREEDY & CORRUPT!!.
Sep 18, 2011
Yes, it's pointless to argue with entitlement idiots who think they are owed a living. It not "insipid" to discuss facts. The problem is you don't have any….you lie so much that you actually believe that the top 1% of the country pay no taxes when in fact the rich pay the majority of taxes. It's not illegal to protest and I never said it was….just another bizarre thing you make up because you lack logic and fact. Enjoy your protest because nobody gives a rats ass.
Sep 18, 2011
Sueann, you have been so horribly misinformed by the progressive liberal propaganda machine – socialism is HORRIBLE it is one the most evil things in this world it is SLAVERY to the state paraded around as charity so that those with simple minds like yourself think its something great. The sinister truth about liberalism is that at its core its about creating a class of dependent people whom they can manipulate into voting for them out of fear of losing their government benefits that they have grown dependent on. Liberalism / Socialism is about enslaving people plane and simple. If you have drunken too much kool-aid to see the truth of that them please move to China and leave the rest of us to be free here in the USA.
Sep 18, 2011
To agree with this protest does not mean you are left wing.
Sep 18, 2011
A useful idiot is better than a worthless genious.
Sep 18, 2011
Why day of rage? Seems like a dumb thing to call a sit in.
Sep 18, 2011
"Total headcount estimates for the event have not been attempted yet."
Really? The number I saw was in another article ~700. Weren't the organizers aiming for 20,000?
Sep 18, 2011
L Dean Clark I AM ALREADY SELF EMPLOYED WHICH IS HARD ENOUGH. WHEN THE CAPITALISTS ARE GONE, BURNED AT THE STAKE OR WHATEVER, TELL ME WHERE THE JOBS ARE GOING TO COME FROM?
Sep 18, 2011
Jack Enders Look it up. It's on the Taxpayers Union sight. And NO you don't add them together. You take them as separate units of the same group.
Now, stay away from me.
Sep 18, 2011
Philip Piel – If the only thing you see as social unfairness is that people want things given to them based on your hard earned money,… well, there are so many unfair and unjust things going down, way too many to mention (how about privatized jails where judges put away teen agers for many years for no real crime committed, just for profit???… for example!!) And your request to "do you all a favor and expire" – HMMMM. Forgive me if I don't take it to heart and will remain… yours truly. – MM
Sep 19, 2011
I couldn't agree more Rhett, well said. The biggest problem right now is how different people define "fair". In my opinion, if everyone paid the same percentage, that would be fair.
Sep 19, 2011
but to disagree with it makes you a right wing nut. Even the teabaggers should be for this but they are too stupid to understand why!
Sep 19, 2011
Bob Staffa That statement is also false. It's not like conservatives like the fact that the rich don't pay taxes. You make no sense.
Sep 19, 2011
I make 1000000000% sense. Maybe you cannot handle the truth. Conservatives bow to their corporate masters becasue they believe the lie that "work hard and some day you could be rich too". That is a nice way to coax more work out of people for less money. Conservatives coddle the rich and always have. Obama has proven that he is a republican with his actions that favor the corporations and do more harm to the average American. If you are an exception then you need to educate the others that follow your political idealogies. Are you freaks afraid to be called "socialist" and "communists" if you don't go along with the corporatists? Capitalism AND corporatism have failed! Shut 'em down!
Sep 19, 2011
And yet republicans disagree with this "republican Obama" and all of his financial decisions. Who's the one behind the corporate bailouts? Who's the one behind the stimulus package? You can't even track all of the pork barrel money. I honestly can't fathom how anyone can support that nonsense.
I can say that a lot of these upcoming republican candidates aren't great (although they look better than Obama). However, I can cross my fingers that somehow Ron Paul can get the ticket. Someone needs to downsize the government. He's the man for the job. Obama will just continue to help the federal government control everything.
Sep 19, 2011
The bailouts were under the BUSH administration, but don't let the facts get in your way. The stimulus didn't go far enough, it should have been doubled, but the REPUBLICAN, Obama was acting like, well, the republican that he is. Ron Paul is a snake oil salesman like the rest of them. He is catering to what a certain fringe wants to hear and you folks eat it up. Half of the time the man is correct, the other half he is as bat crap crazy as Bachmann and the rest. What we need is someone to primary Obama. Bernie Sanders, Dennis Kucinich or some REAL left winger needs to step up. Ask yourself this…why would Ron Paul want to run for office if he hates government and wants to do away with the job he is applying for? Use your thinking cap here.
Sep 19, 2011
Wow…
Sep 19, 2011
Mr. Muir! Glad to hear from ya! How are you doing, man?
Sep 19, 2011
I'm doing great! Thanks. Hope all is well with you guys and the big move!
Sep 19, 2011
Anyone know where I can get my 14 trillion dollar interest free bailout loan?….
Sep 22, 2011
I do not think that a the tea party can help. A libertarian is the way to go. Cut the government, make term limits, and build american jobs. Like to see a tea party candidate do that.
Sep 22, 2011
If there was realy a 20% unemployment then China would have already taken over because we would have defalted on all our loans already.
Sep 24, 2011
Saw the protestors in Wallstreet and the "haves" on the balcony, overlooking the protestors drinking champage. What gawl!
Sep 29, 2011
Joel Holtzman what's this we shit?
Oct 7, 2011
the point is, a business is designed to make money. money so they can pay their employees, pay their corporate taxes and yes, pay the executives. you want to be upset at people that make money, stop watching sports and your obscenely… OBSCENELY paid athletes. and like athletes, companies pay for leadership to run the companies, people that went to school, worked hard and earned those positions to be paid those salaries… so stop using you ipad, iphone and stop drinking your starbucks because if you're against corporate greed, stop supporting it by buying all the latest little toys. otherwise, quit complaining, get a job and let this 99%'er keep some of her hard earned money instead of continuing to bail those 99 weeker's who are dont want to work.
