Dr. Drew: Jeff Conway Didn’t Die Of Drug Overdose

Jeff Conway

Dr. Drew Pinsky spent a good deal of time with Jeff Conway when the former star appeared on his show Celebrity Rehab and now he’s speaking out about Conway’s death confirming that he didn’t die of a drug overdose.

The doctor says that Conway died because of “aspiration with overwhelming pneumonia and sepsis.”

Speaking with TMZ about Conway’s condition Dr. Drew says the actor had been a serious pill popper for years and that addiction wore down his body, leading to his eventual death.

According to the Dr.:

“Jeff is another pharmaceutical death from the overutilization of prescription drugs. Please continue to pray for friends and family. They appreciate your support.”

Is that all you, really, got from the blurb? I'm with Rosalind, you, really, need a life.

Lol you guys make fun of this person for catching the typographical error. You're the ones you need to get a life or get out more. Maybe even educate yourselves on what journalism means and that one should always proof-read anything they write. Btw, Jeff Conway died. Not that I care. Guy needed to pass on anyway with all that pain he carried.

It's this kind of attitude that makes it harder for chronic pain suffers to obtain adequate pain control. Obviously addiction can occur when the physician(s) aren't being careful enough, but that's no reason to make everyone suffer out of fear of using those medications. For me, my fourth and rich spinal surgeries are finally allowing me to reduce my need for pain medications. But before those surgeries, I would not have been able to work or care for my child without pain medications. Please do not overgeneralize and vilify medications that also do a lot of good.

I agree, and know you have pain. The uninformed need to stay out of the world of
pain management. I have a feeling Conway would have killed himself years ago
without pain management he received. The average person has no idea what it's like to wake up, or can't go to sleep because of severe pain. Drugs are not always bad–there's a judgement call that needs to be taken by a Pin Specialist with an MD!

I've also seen doctors hand over narcotics by the hundreds to a gal I know whose only issue is her addiction and not the pain she complains of. She tried to hand one to me one day when I was bitching about a back-ache…thanks but no thanks.

There are legitimate issues with pain for sure, but the vast quantities of methadone and oxy-contin this girl has on her at all times would be enough to kill an elephant many times over.

I would think that Jeff Conway would be the first to warn anyone.

wow r u serious??!!! here in Ontario, the Doctors are more careful @least the one I go to is..if I have any meds left over he deducts the amount from the new ones so say I had 8 painkillers left then he'd take those 8 off whatever amount I need til I see him next.
