Donald Trump has been vocal about his love for the fast-food joint McDonald’s. At its recently held Impact Summit in Washington, D.C., he spoke extensively about the prices going down. The President also claimed that the outlet’s staff are lucky to have him emerge victorious in the elections.
Talking about the same, Trump announced to the present suppliers, owners, and operators that prices will be coming down. His speech comes amid growing concern about the current state of the economy.
The U.S. President credited his administration for taking up the mammoth task of normalizing inflation. He was quoted as saying, “I will tell you that nobody has done what we’ve done in terms of pricing. We took over a mess. We had the highest inflation in the history of our country … and now we have normal inflation.”

However, the inflation rate witnessed a surge and went to 3% in September this year, the highest in over the past 12 months. This was also the highest rate since the beginning of the year.
According to the “Big Mac” index of The Economist, which keeps a tab on the price rate of the fast-food giant, the outlet’s sandwich cost $6.01 in July this year, a drastic surge from its cost of $5.69 last year.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, this rise in the price rate appeared after the cost of beef surged to $6.32 in September, which was again a sharp increase from its cost of $5.67 last year.
Donald Trump’s bold speech at the McDonald’s Impact Summit also comes after his administration relaxed tariffs on imports of coffee, beef, tropical fruits, and other food products to tackle concerns surrounding accessibility.

The POTUS said that price rates have already been brought to a low level, but his administration is aiming to bring them even lower as they wish to attain perfection. He also referred to himself as one of the most loyal customers of McDonald’s.
Taking a sharp dig at former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump said that it would have been “catastrophic,” with the country going bankrupt, if he had lost to her in the elections. He added, “You are so damn lucky that I won that election.”
Donald Trump also served French fries at McDonald’s while campaigning for the elections in 2024. He joked about how he is “the very first former McDonald’s fry cook to ever become president of the United States.” He furthermore said that working in the drive-thru was not easy.
Heaping loads of praise on the hard-working employees of the outlet, the President credited McDonald’s staff members with knowing the people of the country better than anybody else.
On this, he said, “Before the sun rises, you’re serving hot coffee to construction workers, nurses, and police officers on their way to the job. In the evening, you stand ready with the fast dinner and the smile for busy moms and their children as they race from school to soccer practice.” Trump named his favorite McDonald’s food item: the Filet-O-Fish burger.
