The Boston Globe is reporting that three people have been arrested in protests outside the Republican National Convention (RNC), which is going into its second day in Cleveland, Ohio. Internet users are able to watch the RNC , protests, live coverage, and commentary from a number of sources, including online newscaster The Young Turks , YouTube broadcaster NOTHIEFSALLOWED , and the RNC itself. Some of these feeds may contain content that is NSFW.
More than 300 police officers from over a dozen different police forces have been patrolling downtown Cleveland since the beginning of the RNC. Other than the arrests earlier today of three protesters reported to have been climbing flagpoles at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, protests are described as being “relatively calm.”

The three arrested were reported to have been charged with “criminal mischief.”
“So far, so good,” the head of the Cleveland Police, Chief Calvin Williams was quoted with regard to the lack of violence and peaceful protests. Groups reported to be protesting at the RNC include a group of medical workers called Stand Together Against Trump and Black Lives Matter.
At last night’s RNC proceedings , Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, took issue with methods used by protesters at previous events and compared modern protesters with those who followed Martin Luther King, Jr., as reported by the Inquisitr .
“He spoke of the basic morality of the rule of law, provided that it is applied equally to both the wealthy and the impoverished; both men and women, and yes, the majority and the minority. Blue Lives Matter!”
Perhaps the biggest news of last night’s RNC speeches was the closing speech given by Melania Trump, who was initially reported to be expected to be introduced as the “next Jackie Kennedy,” as reported by the Inquisitr. Mrs. Trump’s speech seemed well-received by the audience watching live, but observers quickly realized that something seemed to be amiss.
It appears to some that Melania Trump or her speechwriters were strongly influenced by a 2008 speech given by Michelle Obama at the Democratic convention that year, as reported by the Inquisitr . Also last night, the last flames of hope were likely extinguished for the Never Trump movement, which was hoping to force a “roll call vote.” Anti-Trump protesters were only able to gather signatures from five states, falling short of the six required.
The theme for Tuesday at the RNC is “Make America Work Again.” Speakers expected this evening include Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee Sharon Day, UFC President Dana White, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison, Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Andy Wist, U.S. Senator from Wisconsin Ron Johnson, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Chris Cox, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul Ryan, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Donald Trump, Jr., Dr. Ben Carson, and actor Kimberlin Brown, among many others.
Some protesters have been reportedly exercising their Second Amendment rights and openly carrying firearms to the convention. Yesterday evening, a group of men called the “West Ohio Minutemen” were said to have marched through the street and were “ swarmed” by reporters, as reported by USA Today.
“To be honest, we did not expect this kind of media attention,” a member of the group, Bryon Hennon stated. “There’s a lot of demonization going around about people carrying guns and guns in general, and not everybody who open carries… has an evil agenda. You don’t have to be afraid. It’s part of our society. It’s always going to be part of our society.”
