Donald Trump is being slammed again for his “insane confession” on Wednesday. Political analysts and commentators are condemning the U.S. president after he suggested that the federal government cannot manage key social programs on which millions of Americans rely.
Speaking during an Easter lunch at the White House, Trump said, “It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, and all of these individual things. They can do it on a state basis. We can’t do it on the federal [level]. We take care of one thing: military protection.”

According to Raw Story, the remarks prompted a fresh wave of criticism from lawmakers and advocacy groups. They pointed to the timing of the comments, as the administration has recently requested a $200 billion budget from Congress to continue military operations in Iran.
VoteVets, an advocacy group, bluntly criticized Donald Trump on social media after his remarks. The group wrote, “I guess we’re just saying the quiet part out loud. Who has time for healthcare when we’re busy bombing Iran? Ridiculous.”
In addition, Sen. Elizabeth Warren also criticized Trump’s statement. She wrote on X, “Imagine if instead of funding forever wars in the Middle East, the United States delivered universal child care and health care for all Americans.” Others questioned the wider implications of Trump’s ideas. Commentator Elliot Blake wrote, “Loser. A real president—and Congress—could take care of all those, and not launch an illegal war.”
The matter also drew criticism from other professionals such as doctors. Cardiologist Chandan Devireddy described the moment as a “turning point.” Speaking about the remarks, he said, “This clip is a stark warning.”
“The future of the U.S., currently the most prosperous nation on earth, is precariously balanced between choosing to prioritize the health and growth of our people or the continued expansion of the military-industrial complex. Hopefully, we’re not beyond the tipping point,” Devireddy added.

The latest Trump remarks add to the ongoing discussions about federal spending priorities. Programs like Medicaid and Medicare provide healthcare coverage to tens of millions of Americans, while childcare support is another major issue for working families. Critics argue that reducing the federal involvement will shift the burden to States, creating uneven access nationwide.
On the other hand, Trump has emphasised multiple times that military strength is the focal pillar of his policy approach.
