President Donald Trump’s archnemesis, author Stephen King, just got angry at Scott Jennings for his response to the halt on construction of the President’s pet project, his White House ballroom. King shared a video of Kasie Hunt on the Arena, speaking about Trump and his problem with his dream ballroom with Scott Jennings, who shared the video on April 1.
CNN commentator Scott Jennings had captioned his X (formerly Twitter) post, writing, “I simply cannot understand why people are so angry about a ballroom that future Presidents will enjoy and is 100% privately funded. President Trump could save a kitten from a tree, and it would still be a scandal.”
That caption is what got King angry, and he shared the video on X. King captioned the post, writing, “Because he didn’t get congressional approval is why. Are you MAGA dumb or just dumb?”
In the video, Kasie Hunt on the Arena spoke up about Donald Trump and the order to cease construction on his dream ballroom. She pointed out that he had demolished the East Wing and started construction, despite having no approval for the project. She also noted the several buildings that Trump has added his name to and signed currency with his name, noting that actions like these normally happen in “non-democratic nations.”
Scott Jennings responded, “Are you guys really that mad about the ballroom? I mean, honestly, there’s a giant hole in the ground now. What are we gonna [sic] do, just leave it there? When you get the government involved in building stuff, ask the people in California what happened when the government gets involved in building stuff. You don’t build anything. There’s a big hole…”
Kasie responds, “We burned down the house, what are we going to do? I guess we’ll have to rebuild it.”

Stephen King regularly slams Trump on X and gets a mixed reaction from social media users. One responded in his favor, writing of the ballroom, “Have you looked at images of what is being proposed? It’s Hideous. So, frankly, is he. As to his followers, pure irredeemable garbage.”
One commented writing, “Obama didn’t get congressional approval to build a basketball court at the White House but you weren’t complaining about that. Also that was funded by taxpayer dollars. Trump is paying for this out of pocket. The real reason you don’t want this is because you don’t want Trump to have a legacy in the White House after he leaves. You can deny it all you want but that’s the reason. Stick to fiction. Politics are not for you, Stephen King.”
One X user asked Grok, “Did Obama get approval from Congress when he built a basketball court,” to which Elon Musk’s AI bot responded, “No. Obama did not get (or need) congressional approval for the White House basketball court.”
Another response about the basketball court was on King’s side, reading, “You’re wrong about that. Read Judge Leon’s stay order. He lists all of the WH renovations since 1790, and the Congressional approval for them.”
Another supporter on King’s side commented about Obama’s basketball court, writing, “Obama put removable basketball hoops, on the already existing tennis court. Which Teddy Roosevelt built. They can be rolled off for tennis to be played. They didn’t require ANY demolition to put up. He hosted The Wounded Warriors Basketball team, Trump wants to host rich donors.”
