Steven Hawking has shown us that he isn’t afraid of a little humor, even at his own expense, and he is up to it again with his new cover of Monty Python’s “Galaxy Song.”
According the Guardian , the 73-year old Hawking is performing a cover of the song written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez for the 1983 movie Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. Hawking also stars in a music video of the song, which features clips of the iconic troupe and some of their classic sketches, as well as a computer animation of Hawking flying through the galaxy in his wheelchair.
The track of Hawking’s cover is being released on a limited edition 7-inch single April 18 for Record Store Day. AJC reports that only 1,000 physical copies of the song will be produced, but a digital version will be available for purchase on April 13.
Hawking has also joined Monty Python in a spoof of the classic ’80s video game, Asteroids, in which the spaceship has been replaced by “a rocket propelled, heavily armed Stephen Hawking” blasting the heads of the Python troupe.
Hawking seems to be enjoying his entertainment career. He has made several appearances on The Big Bang Theory , and as mentioned in this Inquisitr article, the famous physicist also contributed his electronically generated vocals to the highly anticipated Pink Floyd album The Endless River last year.
