Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are showing that the “out of sight, out of mind” theory isn’t always true. After years of an on-again-off-again romantic relationship, both have been busy traveling and touring. But when Selena learned about Justin’s odd behavior recently and read his long rant on social media after the Billboard Music Awards, she became concerned, an insider told Hollywood Life .
Worried that he is “pushing himself too hard,” Gomez took the side of those who feel that the lengthy message on Instagram (below) hints that Bieber is on the verge of a meltdown.
“Selena isn’t quite sure what happened to Justin during the Billboard Music Awards, but she is concerned. She’s worried that maybe he’s pushing himself too hard and is glad that he has a bit of a break now,” revealed the insider.
As for her own romance with the 22-year-old “Sorry” singer is concerned, Gomez has used her Revival Tour as way to try to let go of the Biebs, according to the International Business Times’ sources.
When Gomez is bored, she reportedly has gotten in the habit of Justin to “pass the time” and always stays on top of his activities. Now that Selena is so immersed in her tour, however, she is more relaxed about her relationship with her former boyfriend, using it as a “therapeutic” break.
Prior to her tour, Gomez and Bieber reportedly hung out together at a Beverly Hills hotel, with Justin seeking to be on his “best behavior” to woo her back. But the couple has a tendency to play psychological games with each other, resulting in the on-and-off relationship.
Earlier this year, Jelena (Justin+Selena) fans went wild after the Biebs shared a throwback photo showing he still has “feels” for Selena. Gomez liked his throwback photo showing the former couple kissing and then was seen at his concert in Los Angeles, noted People .
Hinting that she also had “feels,” as the Biebs wrote for his caption, Selena responded “Perfect” to his throwback photo, giving Jelena fans a reason to celebrate after her attendance at his concert.
But Gomez also has expressed her effort to let go of Justin.
“I care about his health and well-being. But I can’t do it anymore.”
While Selena attempts to separate herself from Jelena, her former boyfriend Nick Jonas sounds like he might be trying to win her back. Jonas revealed that he remains close to Gomez, gushing about her intelligence, according to Seventeen magazine.
Nick and Selena have put any type of uncomfortable post-split awkwardness in the past, and Jonas shared that they are now so close that he listened to her Revival album in advance. He also complimented her singles.
“Selena has been incredibly, incredibly smart,” praised Nick. “She played me Revival maybe six months before it came out and I knew, like, this is excellent. I was such a fan of ‘Good for You’ and ‘Hands to Myself.’”
The relationship isn’t one-sided. Selena revealed that she still loves Jonas as well, recalling how their “puppy love” felt and admitting that it has blossomed into something more meaningful that lingers even today.
“That, to me, was like puppy love. It was very sweet. He’s lovely. I do have a love for him for sure.”
Jonas also shared that he’s proud of the rest of his pals from their Disney days.
“If you want to talk about that sort of graduating class of 2008, I’m really proud – it’s a really good group,” boasted Nick. “Regardless of some of the history between us [Nick, Selena, Demi, Miley Cyrus] in different ways, there’s a general strength and empowerment that we all feel, still being in the mix and being in a good spot. It’s a cool thing.”
