The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 flagships are on their way, and a new rumor claims that the Korean manufacturer will bring back water resistance as one of their key features.
Samsung first included the waterproof feature in its flagship series when it launched the Galaxy S5 a couple of years ago, but decided to scrap the feature from last year’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

This year, the feature might be making a comeback , as shown in a leaked document released online. The information about the upcoming smartphones’ features was revealed by import and export site Zauba .
The Samsung Galaxy line has steadily held the top of the Android competition, although its grip at the top spot has been threatened time and again by cheaper brands, especially those from China.
In an attempt to bring back the full features of its flagship lineup, the Korean tech giant may have decided to use a sealed phone body once more.

However, the fact that the upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge’s bodies are waterproof also means they will be sacrificing a few features, one of which is the non-removable battery.
According to a report by the Independent , the Android-powered Samsung flagship, particularly the S7 Edge, will have a battery that is 38 percent bigger than its predecessor, which is the S6 Edge.
In the same report, tech website CNET noted that the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone features a 3,600mAh battery. In comparison, last year’s model only had a 2,600mAh battery.

The FCC is the government agency to whom companies and electronic manufacturers are required to submit the schematics of their new products before these devices hit the market.
Because the new Samsung flagship smartphones are slated for a launch later this month and a release in the U.S. by March, the FCC should first check the specifications through the submitted documents.
Another alleged specification of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is the bigger display that comes with it. Reports state that the upcoming handset will have a 5.5-inch screen, compared to the 5.1 display of the S6 Edge.
A few weeks before the official announcement of the new smartphones, N4BB reported that it obtained the first live shots of the Galaxy S7 Edge.
In the leaked images, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge appears to look much like its older sibling, although there are a number of changes and improvements under the hood.

One of the main changes is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC, which powers the entire device. A quick rundown on benchmarking app AnTuTu showcased the power of the new chipset, as it registered an almost unbelievable 134704 points.
To put things into perspective, the second highest score by an Android smartphone in the AnTuTu benchmark is 92746, by Huawei’s Mate 8 phablet.
Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus scored incredibly close, with 132620 points.
Other alleged specs based on the FCC filing include a 12-megapixel BRITECELL camera, 4GB of RAM, and either the Snapdragon 820 or Samsung’s very own Exynos 8890. The upcoming flagship would run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge would also have expandable memory, and there will be an option for either 32GB or 64GB of built-in memory. Last year, the Galaxy S6 models did not have the option to accommodate a microSD card slot, although the company did impress by using the first metal frame on its flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are slated to be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on Feb. 21, 6 p.m. GMT. Previous reports state that the two smartphones would hit the U.S. market by March 11.
