Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s divorce headlines are a ploy deemed as “propaganda” and is a “publicity stunt,” an insider claims.
Ozzy’s former manager from the early 1980s, Steven Machat, tells Radar Online that the couple’s alleged split amounts to nothing more than an attempt to spark interest in Ozzy before he goes on tour.
“I would put money on [the fact that] it’s a publicity stunt,” says Machat. “They’re going on a Black Sabbath tour. She would do this in a minute – it’s propaganda!”
Machat insists that Sharon is “clever enough” to fuel a story that would get serious headlines in order to make her husband “relevant again.”

Ozzy and Sharon announced their purported divorce after she came across emails that Ozzy had allegedly sent to celebrity hairstylist Michelle Pugh. Soon thereafter, Sharon booted her husband of 34 years out of their $4 million mansion. She then took an opportunity to air her dirty laundry on The Talk to say that she has “no idea what I’m doing for the rest of my life.”
The couple was also in the news for allegedly splitting up due to Ozzy’s drug addictions. They lived apart for a while, but eventually reconciled.
Machat doesn’t believe Ozzy ever cheated on Sharon.
“He’s not all there,” Ozzy’s former manager explained. “I would doubt that he had an affair.”
Machat shares that he’s seen Sharon manipulate Ozzy in the past, specifically when she undermined her father, music manager Don Arden, and took Ozzy from him as a client. Machat claims that Sharon eventually married Ozzy as some kind of payback to her dad for having an affair with a younger woman. Sharon and Arden didn’t communicate for 20 years and he didn’t meet his grandchildren, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, until 2002. He died in 2007.
The issue of money might also be a factor as to why Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne won’t get divorced. Machat goes on to say that Ozzy’s money means too much to Sharon to ever let go of him. With his upcoming tour set to launch later this summer, there’s more money on the way for sure.
“She’s not divorcing him – that’s her beast of burden,” Machat continues. “She was in love with the fact that … she could milk him for money. That’s how I saw it.”
Machat also says Ozzy needs Sharon. They’re made for each other and adds that Sharon is Ozzy’s “mother and nurse and manager.”
Machat goes on to say that he wouldn’t put it past Sharon to “manipulate the media to say that her and Ozzy have broken up, and now she would go back with him.”
Neither Sharon nor Ozzy Osbourne has filed divorce documents at this point, according to the report.

Us Weekly reported last week that Ozzy and Sharon went to a marriage counselor after they announced their split. The rock star and his wife reportedly went into a “mediated discussion,” but it’s unclear if it’s going to help the marriage. An insider told the magazine that the Osbournes “have been through thick and thin together and have stayed together through it all.” The source adds that their marital woes are “putting them all through a really horrible time.”
A second source told Us that Ozzy has been “groveling” to Sharon to take him back.
