Frank M. Fazio of Brooklyn, NY filed a lawsuit against Apple this week in which he claims that the company’s Siri performance standards for real-world performance are not up to par with the company’s commercial demonstrations.
Filed in a California court Frank claims that Siri is “far less responsive” in real life. Frank also claims that Siri often doesn’t understand him or “after a long wait time, responded with the wrong answer.”
Fazio has hired Robbins Geller as his legal council and together they hope to turn Siri’s alleged issues into a class action lawsuit.
In the complaint Fazio notes that in Apple’s TV commercials:
“Individuals are shown using Siri to make appointments, find restaurants, and even learn the guitar chords to classic rocks songs or how to tie a tie.”
He further claims that in the ads:
“All these tasks are done with ease … a represented functionality contrary to the actual operating results and performance of Siri.”
The suit does not state whether Fazio is the lone person unable to operate Siri with ease or if he conducted tests with a larger sample group to determine Siri’s perceived issues.
It’s also unclear if Fazio has a heavy accent or other speech related issues that would lead to problems with the operation of Siri. Users of the voice assistant program within Apple’s commercials demonstrate clear voices with no enunciation problems.
