In June of last year, Missy Peregrym and Zachary Levi announced that they got married — in secret. They took to Twitter to reveal the supposed secret, wearing matching hoodies, for some reason. And now, they are not announcing their divorce.
Apparently, the divorce between Rookie Blue star Peregrym and Thor: The Dark World actor Levi — best known for his starring role on the hit TV series Chuck , which ran from 2007 to 2012 — is an even bigger secret than their wedding was meant to be, because the split between the pair of Grade-B celebrities was not uncovered until this week, when Peregrym filed papers.
The date of separation is listed as December 3, 2014.
No one in the public even knew that Levi and Peregrym were an item last June when the suddenly announced their marriage, so needless to say it came as a shock to their fans. But given the whilrlwind nature of the relationship — or what seemed like a whirlwind anyway, since it came out of nowhere .
“I’m probably too public with my life and need to kind of rein that back in a little bit,” Levi said shortly after the marriage became public knowledge. “It was nice to just kind of have our own little personal, very small wedding. There were a lot of friends and family that weren’t even able to come, I felt bad about that. It’s that one big day, but it was really beautiful, excellent and intimate.”
But maybe the divorce was not as shocking. Levi has spoken in recent interviews about the hassles that come with married life, and generally speaking, couples who take some time to get to know each other before they get hitched would seem to have a better chance of keeping their marriage intact.
“Nobody can prepare you for marriage. Marriage is a whole other animal!” Levi said in an interview. “With dating you can be, ‘Hey, it’s not working out,’ and you’re out. But marriage, you make a commitment. The easy outs you don’t have anymore. You’re responsible for another person’s life as they are yours.”
But how much responsibility did they actually share, even when Missy Peregrym and Zachary Levi were married?
The divorce papers filed by Peregrym on December 3 — when the marriage was just short of six months old — say that the pair own no shared assets or property.
Missy Peregrym and Zachary Levi also had no kids, and neither wants any financial support from the other, so their divorce appears not only quick, but easy.
