Chris Bosh may be one of the best forwards in the NBA, but the Miami Heat forward still has trouble avoiding controversy and obscene insults about his sexuality.

Although Bosh has been a notable name in the NBA since 2003, the bashing remarks didn’t escalate until he made the move from the Toronto Raptors to join the Heat back in 2010. His career has soared to unprecedented heights since his move to Miami, but he can’t seem to escape the scrutiny and gay rumors.

The 30-year-old hoopster is often a target for Instagram memes and Twitter jokes, about his questionable expressions and feminine mannerisms that lead others to question his sexual orientation. Needless the say, the pictures and quotes are quite bashing. Although Bosh is married with children, the speculation never ceases. As a matter of fact, the insults and epithets have reached an all-time high with the Heat losing the NBA Championship to the San Antonio Spurs over the weekend. So, Bosh has taken time to set the record straight.

During an exclusive interview with ESPN , Bosh gave a brief statement, addressing all of the rumors that have been geared toward his sexuality.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I read it all…For a while, they were questioning my sexuality. They still do. They were questioning my sexuality, questioning my game. And I’m like, ‘Why are they all messing with me?’ I didn’t do anything to anybody. I didn’t do nothing. I just came here to play basketball. And they’re like, ‘Oh, he’s not a real superstar.’ I never cared about being a superstar,” Bosh said.

“What am I supposed to do? You want me to have cornrows and tats on my neck and just punch somebody in the face when they score on me? It’s crazy. It’s impossible. I can’t do that and play. That’s never been who I am. I’m just going to be myself. I shouldn’t have to apologize for that. If people don’t understand that, then they don’t understand it. I’m not going to try to be somebody I’m not.”

Do you believe Bosh’s statement, or is it all just a form of damage control?
