This weekend’s MC Hammer arrest became an instantly viral story as the “Can’t Touch This” rapper immediately took to Twitter to put police on blast for what he said was a bogus premise for the stop.

News of MC Hammer’s arrest spread via tweeting and retweeting of Hammer’s claims, and the rapper sent several posts explaining his version of events before he was arrested in northern California Thursday for obstructing an officer.

CNN was the first to obtain police acknowledgement of the MC Hammer arrest , and in Dublin, near Oakland in California, police say that the rapper was obstinate and reluctant to comply with police requests.

According to the news network, police in the jurisdiction addressed the MC Hammer arrest in an email, in which a spokesperson says that the star refused to answer questions about the ownership of the vehicle in which he was sitting at the time of the late-night incident.

CNN says:

” ‘After asking Hammer who the registered owner was he became very argumentative and refused to answer the officer’s questions,’ police spokesman Herb Walters wrote Saturday evening in an e-mail to CNN … Hammer — a rap and dance icon in the late 1980s and 1990s — was arrested on suspicion of resisting an officer and obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties, according to police spokesman Herb Walters.”

In a series of tweets after MC Hammer ‘s arrest, the rapper had said:

chubby elvis looking dude was tapping on my car window, I rolled down the window and he said’”Are you on parole or probation?”

You have to know me to understand I was laughing when he was grunting and pulling on me .. I had just left the weight room ..

I will now answer his question, contrary to his personal beliefs, all people of color are not on parole or probation fat boy !!!

Do you think MC Hammer’s arrest account was accurate and that the rapper was unfairly treated?
