Lyme disease sufferer Yolanda Foster, of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , arrived in Germany last week, and ever since, she’s been receiving treatment for her Lyme disease. In her latest update, Foster revealed she’d had a stem cell transplant.
On May 7, the reality star and mother of three shared a new photo of herself on Instagram, along with the following message regarding her latest Lyme disease treatment.
“Sweet dreams to my new stem-cells, may they strengthen my immune system to destroy the silent killer inside of me and turn this Mess into a Message…… #ExhaustedButDetermined #SearchingForACure #ChronicLymeDisease #INeedAMiracle.”
According to a report by Daily Mail Online , a stem cell transplant has the capacity to heal cells that have been damaged by the side effects of Lyme disease, and bring them back to health. The site claimed neurological damage is common for sufferers of Lyme disease, and often leads to encephalitis, chronic fatigue, or myelitis.
The stem cell transplant does not rid the body of Borrelia, the bacteria that reportedly causes Lyme disease.
Foster was diagnosed with Lyme disease nearly three years ago, while filming The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills . In the months after her diagnosis, Foster appeared to be going on as usual, at least for the most part. Then, in December, 2014, she reportedly suffered a Lyme disease relapse, which left her unable to read, write, or watch television. Ever since, Foster has been unable to get back to where she was years ago.
Although Foster was able to complete filming on the Bravo reality show’s fifth season, her participation in the reunion was limited. As fans saw, Foster attempted to participate, but eventually broke down and said she was unable to continue. Foster, the wife of music mogul David Foster, also skipped out on writing several of her weekly blogs for Bravo, and understandably so.
Foster did, however, return to her blog in April for the final entry of Season 5. Speaking to fans, as the Inquisitr previously reported, Foster said she was a “determined warrior” who was dedicated to finding a cure for Lyme disease.
“My world has become very small,” Foster wrote last month.
“I have moved into an apartment with my husband and son in order to have a more manageable scope of responsibilities while I recover slowly and learn to take life one day at a time. Getting well is my full-time job these days.
I am a determined warrior, and even though this has brought me to my knees, I know God often uses our deepest pain as the launching pad of our greatest calling.”
