Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton are bringing their soulful, jazz sounds to Louis C.K.’s and Matt LeBlanc’s alma mater: Newton North High School. The concert is scheduled for April 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET and is currently sold out. Historic Newton presents Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton and Wellesley Bank serves as lead sponsor for the benefit event. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet Lisa Fischer following the concert.
Newton North High School has frequently been recognized as one of the best schools in the nation and both Louis C.K and Matt LeBlanc graduated in 1985. Historic Newton is a joint effort between the Newton Historical Society and the City of Newton that seeks to preserve the city’s longstanding history . Lisa Fischer appeared on Periscope earlier today, where she took a tour of the Jackson Homestead Museum , one of the museums operated by Historic Newton. She also stopped by WGBH and granted an interview about her music career, providing background vocals to artists such as the Rolling Stones and Luther Vandross, her future with Grand Baton , her Grammy wins and she shared a bit of what music means to her. Lisa Fischer also granted an interview with the Boston Globe , where she shared some of her personal views and favorites regarding travel. With a full lineup and concerts that have her and Grand Baton jet-setting across the globe, Fischer shared wisdom, some of her favorite memories, and offered her best travel tip.

Known for having a sweet, humble nature, Lisa Fischer’s response to being kind and mindful of others doesn’t come as a surprise to those who are familiar with her career.
Newton, Massachusetts is regarded as one of the top cities to live in the United States. Residents of Newton read like a virtual who’s who, and many love the city so much they frequently return. Such was the case with Matt LeBlanc’s 30th high school reunion at NNHS.

Matt LeBlanc didn’t know that he and Louis C.K. graduated the same year from Newton North until they met up at the Emmys, though he did state he recognized him. Speaking to Boston Globe , LeBlanc explained the following.
“We weren’t best buddies, but we were in the same class of ’85. I had never even heard of him doing stand up. And then he got this show and I’m like ‘Hmmm, Louis C.K. that guy looks familiar.’ Then I saw him at the Emmys [last year] because we were both nominated and I finally bump into him and I was like ‘[expletive]!’ And he was like ‘I know!’ And we caught up, it was great.”
