California Gov. Gavin Newsom and the official X account for his press office unleashed a series of social media posts targeting President Donald Trump on Thursday evening and Friday morning, the latest chapter in their months-long feud.

Newsom, who has been among Trump’s most vocal critics since the 2024 presidential election, typically posts about the president on his personal X account. In recent days, Newsom has used that account to attack Trump over the economy, even reposting an X graphic about a price increase in PlayStation consoles.

It is worth noting that prices rose in the United Kingdom, across Europe, and in Japan, and that the PlayStation 5 is typically manufactured in East Asia.

Newsom and his team have also accused Trump of attempting to suppress voting through the SAVE America Act. If the bill is passed in its current form, voters would be required to show voter ID and proof of citizenship.

Additionally, mail-in ballots would only be allowed for those in the military or those who can show proof of an illness, disability, or that they’re traveling.

“Trump is lighting democracy on fire with every harmful, and hateful action he pursues,” the press office wrote on Friday. “California will not sit idle while he tries to limit which American citizens can participate in our democracy.

“No one is above the US Constitution — see you in court, Mr. President,” the account added.

Newsom offered similar comments on his own account.

“Donald Trump cast his own ballot by mail — now he’s moving to strip that same right from millions of Americans,” Newsom said. “We’ll see him in court.”

Trump had not responded to Newsom as of Friday afternoon.

The GOP wants to suppress the vote.

Lying, cheating, and rigging the system are the only way they win.

Newsom shared a clip of an interview he did with filmmaker Ken Burns, where the two discussed the meaning of “patriotism.” Burns claimed Trump has attempted to “enrich himself” as the president.

“Americans are finally seeing Trump for what he is — someone using the office to get rich,” Newsom wrote. “The tide is turning.”

On his personal X account, Newsom has accused Trump of making ableist comments regarding those with learning disabilities. Trump recently remarked that he does not believe Newsom should be eligible for office because he has dyslexia.

“Learning differences don’t define your limits, they shape your strengths,” Newsom wrote. “And no one, not even the President of the United States, gets to decide your worth.”

Additionally, the Newsom press office account called Trump a “psychotic, sick man” on Thursday.

Newsom is widely considered the favorite to earn the Democratic nomination for the 2028 election. The Constitution prevents Trump, who turns 80 in June, from seeking a third term.
