If you’ve been missing Key & Peele, never fear, because the funny duo is back with the aptly named Key & Peele – East/West Bowl 3 – Pro Edition – Super Bowl Special YouTube video, one that has received a whopping 2,311,634 views and counting in approximately 24 hours. The new Key & Peele Super Bowl show premieres Friday, January 30, at 10 p.m. ET /9 p.m. CT on Comedy Central , and seeing as though the men have 3,714,301 subscribers currently on YouTube, it’s no wonder this video is going viral quickly. Published on January 28, the new YouTube preview video snippet from Key & Peele features their standard skit that mocks the funny and crazy and wacky names and hairstyles and speaking patterns of football players during those introductory segments you see on channels like ESPN, but this time the video includes actual football players interspersed with Key and Peele, as they are dressed as fictional players.
We Googled some of the names to make sure they were real football players on the new Key & Peele segment. So yes, guys like “ Ishmaa’ily Kitchen ” are real people, according to ESPN. So are Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Leger Douzable, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Cornelius “Tank” Carradine, Prince Amukamara, Fozzy Whittaker, Frostee Rucker, and “A. A. Ron Rodgers,” which is a shout out to the way that a Key & Peele substitute teacher from the hood pronounced unfamiliar and weird names, like “Aaron,” of suburban kids.
In previous viral videos, Key and Peele spoofed NFL studio analysts , as reported by the Inquisitr , which picked up on the funny championship preview video that gave viewers a taste of what else to expect in their Super Bowl special. In addition to the segment about the best football players from the east and the west sounding off before the big game, perhaps Key and Peele will bring back other beloved characters in the segment. After all, President Obama and his “what I’m really thinking” translator, Luther, was such a popular Key and Peele skit that the duo reported that the real President Obama told Key and Peele “I need Luther” when he met them in person.
All in all, Key & Peele has grown into a beloved comedy duo, based on both comedians ability to relate to black and white worlds, since both Key & Peele are the product of black and white parents. The Key & Peele Super Bowl Special premieres January 30 at 10/9c on Comedy Central.
