Kelly Ripa is never one to shy away from sharing her family issues on her hit show, Live! With Kelly and Ryan . Today was no exception, as the 47-year-old opened up to her co-host Ryan Seacrest and millions of viewers about her youngest son’s struggle.
Kelly Ripa has already made plenty of headlines over the past week. As the Inquisitr reported, the talk show host is reportedly denying former co-host Michael Strahan’s request to meet up and clear the air after their falling out when Strahan left the show suddenly last year.
But today, Kelly is making headlines for a different reason, as she revealed to viewers a struggle that her 14-year-old son, Joaquin, has been facing. As many fans will recall, Ripa’s son started High School this past fall. The television personality reminded fans on today’s show that her son has struggled with dyslexia for a while now before going on to say that school has always been a “big challenge” in their household.
The 47-year-old then broke down in tears as she told fans the good news that she received at a recent parent-teacher conference. Ripa revealed that her youngest child has already earned straight A’s in his first semester of high school. Kelly attended the parent-teacher conference along with her son and reveals that she broke down upon hearing the news at the conference, too.

“He was laughing so hard at me crying because I think it made him so uncomfortable,” Ripa told fans , according to Us Weekly .
After sharing her great news with fans, Ripa recalled another story about Joaquin’s struggle with dyslexia when he was in the first grade. At his school book fair, Ripa told viewers that her son would show his parents everyone else’s books instead of his own. Joaquin was allegedly embarrassed about his reading disability.
After Ripa shed tears while telling that story, there really wasn’t a dry eye in the house, including that of Ryan Seacrest, who could also be seen wiping tears away from his eyes.
The 42-year-old told Ripa how much he admires the way that she and her husband, Mark Consuelos, have raised their beautiful family and gushed that he is so inspired by them.
“Anybody who knows you and watches you agrees. When my mom cries, it makes me cry, so when you cry, it makes me cry,” Ryan confessed to Kelly as he got teary-eyed.

Though Ripa didn’t make a post on her Instagram page about her son’s dyslexia, fans took to her most recent photo to applaud the talk show host for wearing her heart on her sleeve.
“The best mom in the biz! You pulled on my heart strings, with the school chat this morning,” one fan said.
