Kai Trump shocked her social media followers when she shared her “dream job” online. Naysayers labeled her as “delusional” and “out of touch” after she described her career aspirations, even though many people make a livelihood doing the same thing.
During an Ask Me Anything session with her 2.7 million followers, a fan asked her what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. According to Irish Star, Kai didn’t beat around the bush and answered them frankly. “Literally what I’m doing now,” the 18-year-old replied.
She then described what she considered her career at the moment, saying, “Playing golf, social media, entertaining, creating my own business. I think that’s my dream job. Traveling the world, meeting new people, is probably my dream job.”

Her reply isn’t unusual for someone whose from the Gen Z generation, as many see influencer careers as a viable option. But even though she was honest, Kai drew backlash from netizens who viewed her response as her being unserious about her future and that she was privileged. One comment in particular nails how they interpret her choice. “Meeting new people and traveling is not work… But what do you expect from a rich kid? As always” they said.
It’s also interesting to note that she lists a number of feasible jobs that she intends to piecemeal together to make a career. A career in sports, social media influencing, and entrepreneurship would ordinarily be seen as worthwhile careers. But she is also Donald Trump’s eldest grandchild and that has its own unique pressure as many view her as having access to more than the average person would.
On the traditional athletic path, Kai has committed to join the women’s golf program at the University of Miami later this year. So far, she has built up a small but formidable reputation with an appearance on the LPGA Tour, where she finished 13-over par. Head coach Janice Olivencia was upbeat about her joining the program, saying, “Kai will bring tremendous energy and excitement to Miami.”
Kai was also excited about going to the University of Miami and working on her golf at the institution. She said, “I love the coaches. It’s close to home. Great school,” she said.
It also seems as if she has prior experience with the college, and was positive about it being the right pick for her. “I love the people there. My cousins went there as well, so I know people that have gone there. You know, it’s a great university and I’m looking forward to playing for them.”
Recently, Kai has been accused of being tone deaf and sparked online controversy for featuring Secret Service agents in her vlog. She also joked about going “bankrupt” while shopping at the high-end grocery Erewhon, with some people accusing her of being “out of touch” with the everyday financial realities of life.

She previously appeared on My View with Lara Trump and addressed what people were saying about her. “I just stay away from it,” she told her aunt. She continued, “It doesn’t really affect me because, I don’t know, I know who I am.”
Kai added, “People say whatever they want to say at the end of the day. I know what’s true, and I know the type of person I am. It doesn’t really matter.”
Despite the backlash, Kai Trump’s public profile is growing. Her fans enjoy her lifestyle and golf-related content and follow her across multiple social media platforms. And whatever she’s doing is working since she is is already earning an estimated an annual $2.5 million through endorsements, sponsorships, and modeling work.
