Has Justin Bieber changed his mind regarding his initial decision not to attend the Grammys this year ?
Last week, it was claimed that the “Sorry” singer, alongside Drake, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean, has boycotted the award ceremony, telling friends that the event is pointless to artists at this given point.
Justin is firmly under the impression that the Grammys is very much out of touch with music and the art that some of the singers bring to the table, especially those who consistently find themselves boycotted from certain categories they should’ve been nominated for.
It’s unclear whether that’s the main reason why Justin Bieber came to the decision that he wasn’t going to attend the ceremony, but according to Hollywood Life , the 22-year-old might have changed his mind now that he’s been told Selena Gomez will be there.
The ex-couple reportedly haven’t seen each other in months. Since Gomez finished her three-month rehab stay in Tennessee, she hasn’t communicated with Bieber at all, having allegedly wanted to distance herself from those she considered a bad influence on her life.
And now that the 24-year-old is said to be dating The Weeknd, there’s just more reason for her not to have an awkward run-in with her ex-boyfriend, especially not at a public event as big as the Grammys.
While Selena is expected to attend the ceremony with her new boyfriend, Justin Bieber could still change his mind at the last minute and show up — but it wouldn’t be for any other reason than to reunite with Gomez, for reasons that are still unknown.
“Look, we’d love to have [Justin Bieber and Kanye West] again,” Ken Ehrlich, an executive at the Grammys, revealed to Entertainment Tonight . “We’re actually still talking to Justin. Kanye, it’s probably going to be a question of — if it will happen, it will or won’t happen closer to the show.”
Hollywood Life further adds by claiming that Justin Bieber would certainly want to run into Selena, but knowing that she has a new man by her side could potentially make things awkward between the two.
Attending the event and knowing that his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend will be there would be “the last thing on Justin Bieber’s mind, as Selena is now seeing The Weeknd, 26, and would likely attend with him because he is already set to perform at the award show. That could definitely be a heartbreaking moment for Justin.”
Bieber has already made it known that he doesn’t approve of Selena’s new relationship, having branded The Weeknd’s music as “whack,” and that comment came just weeks after claiming that the couple’s relationship was fake.
When photos of Selena and The Weeknd first emerged in January, Justin Bieber was quick to suggest that the romance was just one big publicity stunt for the Hollywood stars to boost their careers and their reputation.
The statement, as revealed by TMZ , infuriated fans, stressing that Bieber seemed rather bitter about the fact that the girl he once considered the love of his life had moved on and found a new man.
As the source already mentioned, it’s unclear at this given point whether or not Justin Bieber will change his mind and attend the Grammys. One of the reasons he would want to go is to be reunited with Selena, but on the other hand, he also wouldn’t want to be there knowing that The Weeknd is going to be with his ex-girlfriend throughout the entire evening.
