JRPGs rule the new video game releases for the week of Jun 28, 2015. In the shadow of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight released the week previously, there are no other AAA releases on the schedule this week, which gives everyone time to finish up the Batman: Arkham saga. Instead, the niche of JRPGs is getting a boost as several games from across the ocean and notable indie titles make up the list of new video game releases this week.

Starting in no particular order amongst the new video games this week, we begin with Ar nosurge Plus , an enhanced remake of the PlayStation 3 game for the PS Vita platform sporting both a retail and digital release. The game will include all the DLC released for the PS3 version since its release on September 26, 2014. Developed by veteran developer Gust, the game is a prequel to the popular Ar tonelico series that originally debuted on the PlayStation 2 in 2007 with Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia. Ar nosurge Plus follows the story of two pairs of young people. One pair is helping fight against the Sharl, a mysterious new lift form that has appeared and begun abducting the people of Orei. The other pair is fighting for the belief that both humanity and the Sharl can coexist. Gamers who wish to jump in will be able to do so when the game launches on July 2, 2015.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3: V Century also joins the list of new video game releases. The game is another remake for the PS Vita platform of the PlayStation 3 title Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory . The series takes inspiration from Tron with a Japanese twist. The series takes place in the world of “Gamindustri,” which is divided into four regions. Each region is completely different from each other and each represents a specific video game consoles. The first game saw the four goddesses are fighting each other for “shares” in the Console War. This particular entry is set in an alternate reality where one of the four goddesses, Neptune, is yanked into this alternate reality and must find her way home. A revamped story, added missions, and events are contained within the action JRPG.

Other notable titles releasing this week include Whispering Willows on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Players will take the role of Elena, who has the ability to project her spirit outside of her body to interact with the good and evil spirits in the Willows Mansion. Red Goddess: Inner World is a 2.5D nonlinear side-scroller that has you literally inside the mind of a Young Goddess with the objective of helping her remember and recover her lost powers from the invisible enemy “The Narrator.”
