Jaden Smith decided to wear a dress as a new fashion statement, and may not have expected the uproar that resulted. But the 16-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith took it in stride, joking on social media about his unconventional style, reported Us Weekly .
“That Moment When Your Wearing A Dress With No Pants And You Swerve Way To Hard,” posted Jaden.
In addition, Jaden revealed that he had decided to go shopping for feminine attire.
“Went To TopShop To Buy Some Girl Clothes. I Mean ‘Clothes.’”
As for any backlash from Jaden’s choice to wear a dress? Will Smith is confident that his son can handle it.
“Jaden understands that that’s a part of this business. If he wants to do it, there’s a certain amount of battery that you have to be willing to live through.”
However, Jaden has learned to give as good as he gets through his social media postings.
“God Bless The Media, If We Didn’t Have It, Who Would You Judge To Make Yourself Feel Better.”
As for Willow Smith , the teenager shares her brother’s view that being true to herself often means ignoring conventional fashion choices, according to the Hollywood Reporter . And that includes swapping clothes.
“I take [Jaden’s] clothes all the time!” she revealed.
In addition, Willow isn’t above taking her mother Jada Pinkett’s castaway clothes.
“When my mom is giving away stuff, sometimes I go in [her closet] and I’m like, ‘Hey mom, will you ever wear this in your whole entire existence?’ and she’s like, ‘Nope! You can have it.’ That’s how I got the boots that I wore to the VMAs in 2013.”
However, as the Inquisitr reported, Willow has had her own share of controversy from her attire, with Jada Pinkett rushing to defend her daughter .
Wearing a sweater that made her look naked except for body paint, Willow found herself the subject of social media outrage. The same outrage occurred when Willow was photographed with a shirtless young male actor.
But Jada challenged those types of comments.
“Here’s the deal. There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool.”
