Andrew Gutierrez, 35, has been sentenced for locking a pregnant woman up inside his RV and hitting her till she was unconscious. He was sentenced last week to 25 years in prison on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to prosecutors, Gutierrez told the pregnant woman, “Welcome to Hell House.” Then he began “punching and kicking and kneeing her.” The man has already served five years in prison after being convicted in 2016 on charges of “assault family violence continuous.”
In January 2024, a dispatcher responded to a 911 call that was disconnected shortly after being dialed. As the cops arrived at the home in Bryan, which is situated about 100 miles east of Austin, they discovered the “victim severely beaten and requiring immediate medical attention,” according to the DA’s office in a Friday press release.
According to the reports, the first responders documented “severe bruising” along with swelling to the victim’s face, stomach, and chest. The press release further added that the woman was 11 weeks pregnant at the time of the assault.
The DA’s office said, “Police spoke with the victim, who stated that she and the defendant got into an argument.” They added, “The defendant then locked her in the RV and stated ‘Welcome to Hell House,’ threatening to make sure she didn’t have the baby.”
Gutierrez grabbed the pregnant woman by her hair. At the same time, he “repeatedly punched her in the face and stomach.” Then, he grabbed a 10-inch kitchen knife and threatened to kill her.
The DA’s office revealed, “The victim begged him to stop, and he threw the knife on a table but continued punching, kicking, and kneeing the victim until she lost consciousness.”
“While the defendant was outside the RV disposing of evidence from the crime scene, the victim called 911, gave an address, and hung up.”
The reports further added that the woman urged Gutierrez for urgent medical attention, and he forced her to make up a story about two women assaulting her, as per Law & Crime. The office said, “Bryan Police responded quickly to the scene and were able to place the defendant in custody and figure out what actually happened.”
Alongside the victim’s statements, additional evidence was also discovered at the scene, including a kitchen knife. Officers also observed signs of disturbance inside the trailer. He was taken into custody and faced charges of instances of family violence. Now, he must serve at least half his sentence before he can be eligible for parole, as stated by the DA’s office.
