Hayden Panettiere is close to a foot and a half shorter than her soon-to-be husband, but the diminutive actress hopes one day they can create some normal-sized kids.
A little more than a month after getting engaged to 6-foot-6 boxing champion Wladimir Klitshko, the 5-foot-1 Hayden Panettiere is already talking about starting a family.
Hayden said she thinks the two may have been brought together for a reason — so they can produce some beautiful, average-sized children.
“God’s telling us we’re too far on either end of the spectrum,” she joked to Ellen DeGeneres in an appearance this week. “He needs to make normal people.”
“He’s got bowlegs. I’ve got knock knees,” she added. “They’re gonna have straight legs and be normal height.”
But Hayden mentioned that it was their height difference that first brought her and Klitshko together.
“I know that I’m small, but he’s large,” she said. “That’s how we met. I said, ‘You’re huge.’ He said, ‘You’re tiny.’ ”
While she may be looking forward to having kids soon, Hayden said planning a wedding with Wladimir is a bit difficult given his complete ignorance of American wedding customs.
“He’s very confused about our traditions,” she told Ellen, recounting a conversation with her beau. ” ‘What is this honeymoon?’” he asked. “I said, ‘It’s when you go on a vacation afterwards. Or you can’t see the bride in her dress before.’” He asked, “‘Why? Why not, it’s a dress.’”
But she admitted that his trouble with American customs wasn’t all bad.
“He doesn’t know the woman’s side of the family is supposed to pay for the wedding,” she confessed. “Shh … We don’t need him to know that!”
The on-again off-again relationship for Hayden and Wladimir has been a popular item in celebrity blogs and tabloid magazines, but Hayden says she doesn’t understand the appeal
“It’s like the 2.0 version… I’ve always had great relationships and stayed really good friends with the guys I’ve dated,” she told Glamour when they reunited. “It blows my mind sometimes that us getting together has gotten so much attention. It’s like, really? This is breaking news?”
Hayden Panettiere and Wladimir Klitshko have yet to announce a wedding date.
