Members of both the Republican and Democratic parties took to social media on Thursday to voice their opinions on United States President Donald Trump’s plans for firing Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Trump announced on Truth Social on Thursday that Bondi would be reassigned and that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche would replace her on an interim basis. Blanche previously served as Trump’s attorney during various cases, including the Stormy Daniels scandal and the 2024 criminal defense trial.
“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,” Trump wrote.

Bondi had not publicly commented on the transition as of publication. Trump stated that he will reveal her new role, which he says will be in the private sector, at a later date.
Hours before the news broke, South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace said that she would welcome such a move. Mace’s X post referenced Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, who has been rumored as a possible long-term replacement.
“Bondi handled the Epstein Files in a terrible manner and made this situation far worse than it had to be for President Trump,” Mace wrote. “I look forward to a new Attorney General committed to getting justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein.”
Arizona Rep. Yassamin Ansari opted for a more direct approach, calling the move “good” and demanding the government release the Epstein Files. Trump has not been charged with any crimes related to Epstein.
If the reports that Lee Zeldin will be replacing Pam Bondi as Attorney General are true – I welcome it.

Bondi is the second member of Trump’s cabinet to be reassigned within the last month. Trump named Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to be the first Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas in early March. Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin officially replaced Noem on March 24.
Jasmine Crockett also reacted to the news of Pam Bondi’s firing. She wrote in a post on X, “Well… first it was Kristi Noem, now it’s Pam Bondi… it would be too much like right that Pete be next. I see a theme. He will throw the incompetent women under the bus a lot faster than the incompetent men.” She signed off the post with these words, “We need a do over… but only if America would do better.”
“Good move by Trump to fire Bondi over her mishandling of the Epstein Files and reminding everybody that he created this quagmire in Iran to distract from the Epstein Files,” former MSNBC and ESPN commentator Keith Olbermann wrote on X.
Josh Barnett, an Arizona Republican who ran for the state senate in 2024, urged Trump to part ways with Bondi but keep Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
“Stop listening to your terrible consultants,” Barnett wrote. “Go with your gut instinct on who should be the next AG.”
As of Thursday afternoon, there is no indication that Trump intends to remove Gabbard. However, The Guardian reported on Thursday morning that Trump has reportedly polled cabinet officials on whether he should keep Gabbard in her role. Trump reportedly took issue with Gabbard failing to speak out against former counterterrorism chief Joe Kent, who criticized the ongoing Iran War.
